Like teachers and students, NBA players get the summer to do with what they wish. And while many spend that time getting ready for the next season by lifting weights and working out, it's not all work and no play for the NBA stars we caught up with this summer. Here's some of the coolest things they've done in the offseason.

"What is the coolest thing you've done this summer?"

Elton Brand, Los Angeles Clippers
"You know, actually I haven't done much this summer. I wasn't scared, but I was kind of cautious. It was contract time, so I didn't want to be on any boats or anything. After (the Olympic qualifying tournament) is over, maybe go on a vacation somewhere or an island or something and relax. But I mostly stayed put this summer."

Vince Carter, Toronto Raptors
Carter: "Just seeing one of my buddies get married."
Q: Where was the wedding? Did you stand up in it?
Carter: "In North Carolina. Yep, I had to stand up the whole time. I was a groomsman."
Q: Did you catch the garter belt?
Carter: "Nooooooo. I didn't even go out there. I knew he would try to throw it to me. I made sure I stayed out of the way."

Nick Collison, Seattle SuperSonics
"I've done a lot of things, but this is the coolest, especially if we win gold, then it will be a great summer and a great experience. It's been a lot of fun so far, just playing with the best players, both with and against these guys. I'm learning a lot. It's really good for my game."

Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs
Duncan: "This summer, went to Mexico with my wife for four or five days and that was really relaxing."
Q: Where in Mexico, or do you not want to give away a special hideaway?
Duncan: "No, I don't mind at all. It's Cancun, but it's not Cancun. It's about one-half an hour out of Cancun. We relaxed and did a whole lot of nothing."

Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers
"Most memorable thing that I've done in 2003 is witness my son being born last Friday."
--Note: Iverson's third child, Isaiah Rahsaan Iverson, was born on August 8

Jason Kidd, New Jersey Nets
Kidd: "Went to Cabo [San Lucas, Mexico] for a week with my family. Just hung out on the beach and enjoyed the sand and my family. We just hung out."
Kidd's son T.J. stood next to his dad. We decided to try our luck.
Q: What's the most fun you've had this summer?
T.J. "The pool!"
Jason: "The pool, huh? T.J. loves to swim."

Karl Malone, Los Angeles Lakers
"Working in my logging business back home and driving my truck. That was the coolest thing I've done. That's what I do every summer."

Tracy McGrady, Orlando Magic
"Aw, man, I've done so much. Commercials, photo shoots. I've been busy, real busy. I haven't been able to see my daughter that much. But that's the coolest thing I've done, spending time with my daughter."
