Will they or won't they? That question will haunt the
Detroit Pistons all season if they continue winning at a rate close to their current pace. We are, of course, referring to the magical 70-wins mark -- a feat only achieved by the
1995-96 Chicago Bulls, when they turned in a 72-10 record.
"We don't even think about that, man," Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups said after Detroit defeated the Knicks 105-79 at Madison Square Garden in mid-January. "My whole thing is, if we're close to it in April, maybe then I'll start thinking about it."
It's a good thing we're not like Billups. We're counting down to 70 -- or, dare we say, more? -- with each Pistons victory and we'll continue to use the best season on record as a measuring stick for Detroit's success. So take a look at how this year's Pistons stack up against Jordan, Pippen and the Bulls of ten years ago:
