Andersen, a 6-10 forward-center out of Blinn Junior College (Brenham, Texas), is in his third season with the Nuggets. He's also the first-ever NBDL call-up, after Denver signed him on Nov. 21, 2001.

Andersen, a high-rising defensive specialist, is averaging 3.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.73 blocks per game. He also ranks No. 1 in the NBA in blocks per 48 minutes (5.61).

THE SKINNY
Andersen's full name is Christopher Claus Andersen, and his nickname is "Birdman". He grew up in Iola, Texas, which is 120 miles north of Houston, and his high school senior class had just 34 members in it.

CROWNING THE KINGS
In one of his best games of the season, Andersen came within three blocks of a triple-double against the Kings, as he had 12 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks in just 24 minutes of action. The Nuggets won the Nov. 1 game, 109-88.
