Last week, my friend Scottie Pippen came out and said that Ben Gordon should be the Rookie of the Year.

Sorry, but Charlotte's Emeka Okafor is the best choice for this seasonís got milk? Rookie of the Year. Take it from me, Iíve won the award before and I know that Emekaís all-around contributions Ė not just scoring Ė are what it takes to win the top honor.

Jason Kidd thinks this UConn alum is this year's top rook.

We just played the Bobcats the other night and Emeka wasnít even supposed to play because he was injured. But at the last minute he played and finished the game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

When we prepared for the game, Emeka was a main focus and we knew we had to stop him on both ends of the court to be successful. Chicago has several options and Gordon can get his points easier because teams donít focus only on him because they have some other good young players.

Emeka has been great. I know he has the record for consecutive double-doubles for active players by a rookie and thatís saying something. I mean, more than Shaq and Duncan? Thatís pretty good. And heís also leading the NBA in offensive rebounds. Heís been consistent all season long and heís done a wonderful job. He has been the biggest reason why the Bobcats have been as competitive as they have.

The other night it was close in the fourth quarter and he blocked shots on two straight possessions and then had another down the stretch in crunch time. He just gets it done in many different ways.

Címon, Scottie. I know youíre biased, being a former Bull and all. Look at it from an unbiased opinion and realize that Emeka is the Rookie of the Year. I think heís going to be a very good player in this league and I can easily see him as the cornerstone of this franchise.
