Miami hosts Cleveland, Spurs visit Warriors
Feb. 2 -- What's on T.V. tonight? Cleveland squares off with Miami at 8 ET on TNT. Then the Warriors welcome the defending champion Spurs at 10:30 ET. Take a look at all of the facts and figures surrounding TNT's double-header as NBA.com goes Inside the Numbers:
Cleveland @ Miami, 8 ET
.438 Heat swingman James Posey is shooting at that efficiency from the three-point arc this season, far better than the .309 mark he converted at last year as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. He's also knocking down 2.05 treys per game, more than double his career average of 1.0 heading into this season.
.491 LeBron James currently is shooting a career-high .491 from the field. Third in the league in scoring (31.2 ppg), his rate is well above the other 30-plus point per game scorers in the league (Kobe Bryant, .446; Allen Iverson, .453).
.564 Shaquille O’Neal tops the NBA in field goal percentage. Miami is tied with the Spurs for the best team field goal percentage in the NBA (.472) and hold opponents to the seventh-lowest defensive rate (.435).
.912 Over the last 10 games, Zydrunas Ilgauskas has made 62-of-68 (.912) free throws. He leads all centers in free throw percentage on the season at .868 (197-227).
1-0 The Cavaliers hold that advantage in the season series. On Dec. 20, Cleveland swingman LeBron James scored 13 consecutive points in the fourth quarter as the Cavs beat the Heat 115-107. The Cavs led by as many as 22 points in the fourth before Miami stormed back in the game on the strength of a 14-0 run. James single-handedly responded for the Cavs though, scoring 13 straight points and helping Cleveland hold onto the lead. James finished with 41 points and 10 assists, while Dwyane Wade led Miami with 33 points and seven assists.
2 Wade is currently one of two players in the league, along with Allen Iverson, to rank in the top 10 in scoring, assists and steals.
2.4 Alonzo Mourning averaged that many blocks per game in 14 January contests playing only 14.9 minutes a night behind Shaq. Mourning leads the league in blocks per 48 minutes at 6.6 and total blocks with 134.
4 The Cavs are in the midst of a four-game road winning streak. This marks the first time that Cleveland has put together four straight road victories since 1998.
7 The Cavaliers have won seven contests in a row, overall. The streak began when guard/forward Sasha Pavlovic was inserted into the starting lineup against the Jazz on Jan. 21
32.8 James averaged that many points on .487 shooting (181-372) during the month of January, along with 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. It marked the highest scoring month of his career.
52-0 The Heat are 12-0 this season at home in games which they are leading going into the fourth quarter, extending their current streak to 52 games. Last season, the club record was 31-0 in that situation.
100 The Heat (100.15) are one of just four teams in the league averaging over 100 points per game.
200 LeBron James played the 200th game of his NBA career on Jan 27, and became the only player in NBA history other than Oscar Robertson to post averages of 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in his first 200 games.
San Antonio @ Golden State, 10:30 ET
.423 San Antonio leads the league in opponents' field goal percentage, holding foes to a .423 clip. The Spurs are second in the NBA in opponent scoring (87.5 ppg) as well.
.546 Spurs guard Tony Parker is shooting a staggering .546 (357-654) from the field this season, good for second in the NBA, while also averaging a career-high 19.3 points per contest. Since the 1985-86 season there have only been two point guards who have finished in the top 10 in field goal accuracy (John Stockton, seven times, John Paxson, 1990-91).
5 The Warriors began the season as the fifth youngest team in the NBA. Golden State’s current 13-man roster features 11 players who are 26-years-old or younger and six players who are 23-years-old or younger.
8-3 The Spurs are 8-3 (.727 winning percentage) in games decided by 5 points or less.
9.4 Golden State point guard is second in the league in assists per game (9.4) in addition to scoring 19.2 point per night.
14.0 Among all players in NBA history who have scored at least 14.0 points in their rookie season, Warriors guard Jason Richardson is on pace to become one of only five players to improve their scoring average in each of the next four seasons -- joining Karl Malone, Stephon Marbury, Billy Cunningham and Jack Twyman.
20 The Warriors won their 20th game of the season 43 games into the 2005-06 campaign. Last season, they achieved their 20th victory 63 contests into the year.
20-plus Golden State forward Troy Murphy posted a season-high 21 rebounds versus Portland on Jan. 28. On Jan. 23 versus the L.A. Clippers, Murphy registered 20 rebounds -- including a career-high nine offensive boards.
35 Based on winning percentage alone, the Spurs’ dynamic duo of Tim Duncan and Parker are two of the most successful players to hit the NBA hardwood over the past 35 years. Since the start of the 1970-71 season, Parker and Duncan have the fourth and fifth highest winning percentages for any player to have played a minimum of 300 games.
36-10 The Spurs are on pace to win the most games in franchise history with their record of 36-10 through the first 46 games.
8,000 Since moving to the AT&T Center for the 2002-03 season the Spurs have annually hit the road when the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo comes to town. This year’s rodeo road swing the Silver and Black will visit eight different cities in a two and one half week span that will cover over 8,000 miles in the air. The Spurs are currently two games into their annual Rodeo Road trip, and are now 21-4 all-time in these games.
