The Clippers hadn't beaten the Blazers in Portland since 1999. Chris Kaman helped Los Angeles bring that losing streak to a screeching halt. Kaman, who scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, hit a clutch jumper and made four free throws in the final 17 seconds as the Clippers earned the 100-94 victory on Sunday. Looking to start 2006 anew, the Knicks defeated the Suns 140-133 in a dramatic three-overtime contest at the Garden on Monday. Eddy Curry was a monster inside, scoring 15 of his 20 points and grabbing 10 of his 15 boards in the last two minutes of regulation and overtime. Also, his block of James Jones with 2:52 remaining in the third OT changed the momentum and lifted the Knicks to victory. Curry posted 21 Nestlé Crunch Time points in all.

After a fourth-quarter rally tied the game, Morris Peterson and Darrick Martin each drained a 3-pointer in the final two minutes to propel Toronto past Atlanta 108-97. Peterson's trey from the right corner made it 100-97 with 1:55 left, and Martin's shot 62 seconds later gave the Raptors a six-point lead. Paul Pierce capped a 31-point night with four in Nestlé Crunch Time that fueled Boston's 109-106 victory over Charlotte. Pierce's driving layup with 1:16 left broke a 100-100 tie. After the Bobcats tied it and Celtics teammate Orien Greene untied it, The Truth's two free throws with 33.1 seconds to go helped seal the deal. Houston's Juwan Howard extinguished any comeback hopes the Cavaliers had Thursday night, sealing a 90-81 victory at Cleveland. The Cavs had cut a 17-point lead all the way to three, but Howard helped the Rockets finish off the win with two late buckets. He pushed a six-point edge to 86-78 with 1:46 to play, grabbed a defensive rebound and buried another jumper on the ensuing possession for an 88-78 lead with 1:17 left. He finished the night with 16 points, nine rebounds and nine Nestlé Crunch Time points overall.

Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki put a couple of nails in Denver's coffin, netting two jumpers in the final minute of overtime to seal a 114-112 road victory on Friday. The first jumper came with 40 seconds left, sending the visiting Mavs up by three, 110-107. Then, with 8.5 seconds remaining and the Mavs up one, Dirk hit a a fadeaway 19-footer to make it 112-109. He finished the night with 27 points, 10 boards and 13 Nestlé Crunch Time points overall.

Dirk Nowitzki coming up clutch has become a redundancy for the Mavericks. A night after winning the Crunch honor against Denver in OT, Dirk was back at it on Saturday against the Timberwolves. Nowitzki's tip-in with 1:31 remaining tied the game at 76 apiece. Then his fade-away jumper with 53.5 seconds left put Dallas up for good, and the Mavs held on for an 83-79 victory over Minnesota. Nowitzki also netted 3-of-3 free throws in the last minute to finish with 26 points, two blocks and 11 Nestlé Crunch Time points overall.

With time running out and his team down by two, Vince Carter was told by coach Lawrence Frank to go for the tie. The Nets guard had other ideas. Carter capped a 42-point performance by draining a 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining to give New Jersey a 105-104 win in Toronto on Sunday. Kobe Bryant will get all the press for his 45 points in Monday's 96-90 win over the Pacers, but it was Lamar Odom who sealed the game down the stretch. Odom hit a 3-pointer with 1:20 to go, pushing the lead to 90-85, and hit 3-of-4 free throws the rest of the way. After stellar performances late in regulation and during the first three overtime periods Tuesday, it was no surprise the Nuggets looked to Earl Boykins and Carmelo Anthony to finish off the Suns. With the clock ticking down, Boykins found Anthony, who sank a jumper with 2.9 seconds left in triple-overtime, giving Denver a 139-137 win. Boykins, who finished with a career-high 33 points and added eight assists, also tallied 18 Nestlé Crunch Time points. Anthony, who was hit hard in the nose by teammate Eduardo Najera earlier in overtime, scored 43 on the game with 11 rebounds and added 17 Nestlé Crunch Time points.

New year, new Knicks? They're now 5-0 in '06 after a hard-fought 117-115 win over Dallas in overtime. Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis scored key buckets in OT. Curry's three-point play gave New York a 110-109 lead with 3:12 left, and Davis' tip-in extended the lead 39 seconds later. The Lakers guard, playing the second half with a sprained right wrist, turned a 6-for-18 shooting effort into a 9-for-21 night by hitting his final three jumpers, giving L.A. a 99-98 win over Cleveland. More times than not, Gilbert Arenas gets the headlines for the Wizards. While the guard had a strong showing in Washington's 114-106 overtime win over the Hawks on Saturday, it was teammate Antonio Daniels who made several key plays. Due to a bruised hip, it was questionable if Clippers forward Elton Brand was going to play against the Jazz on Monday. Los Angeles sure is happy that it had its star in the lineup. Brand, who missed the two previous games, outscored the Jazz 6-2 to open overtime as the Clippers notched a 102-93 win. You wouldn't have thought Tracy McGrady missed the last five games with lower back problems by the way he put his team on his back down the stretch in the Rockets' 109-108 double-overtime win over the Bulls. McGrady missed a jumper with five seconds left in the fourth, grabbed his own rebound and connected on a fadeaway with two ticks remaining to send the game to OT tied at 90. In the extra session he hit a jumper to put Houston up two with 15 seconds left. That's exactly what Chauncey Billups was at least thinking when he delivered all 23 of his points after halftime in a 106-102 victory over the Bucks on Wednesday. Billups hit the first of two daggers with 57 seconds left in overtime to give Detroit a one-point lead. Then, he nailed a 3-pointer off a high screen-and-roll with 29 seconds remaining to put the Pistons up four.
