July 20, 2005 -- We all know the woes of summer school. You're forced to skip part of your vacation to pick up on the finer points of courses you failed to grasp during the academic year. A similar, though quite different, story can be said for summer league attendees, those players who may not have the chance to hone their skills through significant playing time during the regular season.

While you may find the occasional veteran -- see Ron Artest -- on a summer league roster, for the most part teams are loaded with young players who need the valuable experience against other NBA competition to continue their development.

NBAE photographers have also been hitting the hardwood this summer, following the players and sending back some of the sights from this year's action. Below is a glimpse at what they're capturing on film:

Welcome To The NBA: Boston's Gerald Green stole the show in Vegas. In his first NBA game, Green pulled off the most-talked-about play when he dunked over two Clippers. Watch the video.

Great Expectations: As the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, you're expected to perform. In his first NBA action, Andrew Bogut averaged 13.2 points and a league-high 10.0 rebounds in five games at the Minnesota Summer League.

Little Man Nate: Size and excitement seem to be available in inverse proportions for Nate Robinson. The diminuitive guard has been one of the brightest stars of the summer.

On Guard: In an 83-74 loss to the Mavericks, Deron Williams had his best game yet in a Jazz uniform, turning in 19 points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds.

Young Skywalker: Despite being listed at only 5-9, Robinson can be found hanging somewhere near the rim. His stick-back dunk was the highlight of one summer league.

Summer School: Memphis' Andre Emmett -- sneaking under L.A.'s first-round pick Andrew Bynum -- scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting in a 98-94 win over the Lakers on July 16.

Summer Fun: Longtime L.A. Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda joined Grizzlies' president Jerry West and coach Mike Fratello for a few laughs at the Southern California Summer Pro League.

Back In Action: Other than shaking off the rust after a lengthy layoff, Ron Artest returned to the Minnesota Summer League to help the development of young Pacers like David Harrison.

Rocket Man: In addition to this easy two, Luther Head showed a nose for the ball by averaging 2.8 steals per game at the Minnesota Summer League.
