SECAUCUS, NJ, Jan. 24, 2006 -- Time to celebrate. We have reached the midway point of the regular season, a perfect time to honor the best of the 2006-07 campaign to date. NBA.com's experts expound on their mid-season picks for the six major awards, as well as another eight "best of" categories.

Allen Iverson is certainly the biggest name to change uniforms since June, but was the AI trade the Best Acquisition a team has made? Yeah ... probably.

Maurice Brooks:
Allen Iverson became the sixth fastest player to score 20,000 points in his career on Tuesday. And the Sixers traded him to the Nuggets for a bag of peanuts. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Jeff Dengate:
At the mid-point of the season, the best acquisition of the year has to belong to the Denver Nuggets, who swung a deal to land Allen Iverson just as Carmelo Anthony was beginning a 15-game suspension for fighting. While it’s a stretch to call A.I.’s early days in Denver a rousing success, he did help keep Denver from falling any further back as it awaited the return of the league’s top scorer. Time will tell just how the trade pans out now that Iverson and Anthony are suiting up together.

John Hareas:
Trading for Allen Iverson was all-time steal for the Nuggets but we may not see the real potential of this team--and A.I.-Melo tandem--until next season.

Dave McMenamin:
He seemed like an after thought when he was picked up. Mikki Moore was a former D-Leaguer who I knew more for his distinctive Sideshow Bob hair than his skills in the post. But when Nenad Krstic went down with a season-ending knee injury and Josh Boone wasn’t ready to step in and make an impact as a rookie yet, Moore became the Nets starting center. The same Nets that were considered one of the elite teams in the East in the preseason. Moore has made the most of his opportunity with averages of 10.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in his 14 games in the starting lineup.

Rob Peterson:
While the Indiana-Golden State trade was bigger in terms of numbers and Chris Webber to the Pistons could put Detroit in the Finals, Allen Iverson to the Rocky Mountains was the most significant acquisition this season. Paired with Carmelo Anthony, AI makes the Nuggets a force to be reckoned with in the West, and that's saying something considering the firepower in the conference. With the league's top scorer and third best scorer, the Nuggets have options on offense that other teams only dream of. Now, it's up to them to turn it into a dream season.

Chris Rosenbluth:
Players as historically good as Allen Iverson don’t usually get traded during the season, especially when they’re still performing at an All-Star level. A.I. helped the Nuggets stay afloat in 15 games without Carmelo Anthony, and now that Melo is back and the two are in the same starting lineup, the prospects in Denver are, for lack of a less corny description, a mile high.

John Schuhmann:
The Blazers made like 26 trades on draft night, but the three deals they made for rookies LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy and Sergio Rodriguez all look to be paying off. The best of which was essentially Roy (via Minnesota) for Sebastian Telfair. You can have the sizzle. I'll take the steak ... and the Rookie of the Year award ... and a very bright future.
