| The best NBA uniform news for the 2006–07 season? The coolest NBA getup ever — Golden State's late-'60s "The City" design—is back in circulation. Worn by the Warriors from the '66-'67 season through '70-'71, it's still as smooth as one of Rick Barry's underhanded free throws. Meanwhile, no self-respecting male athlete should wear purple, and the NBA has finally gotten the memo, as the Bucks replace the team's purplecentric color scheme with a vastly superior green-andred design. And up in Toronto, the Raptors junked their purple alternate uni, and their white home uni is now trimmed in red. (Lakers and Suns, we're still waiting.) Elsewhere, the Celtics added a little shamrock to the back of their jersey, and there are lots of new alternate road uniforms, ranging from sharp (blue unis for the Bobcats) to so-so (the Nets in solid red). Then there are the Washington Wizards, who are pairing a gold jersey with black shorts — a move fraught with major "Didn't your mama teach you how to dress?" potential. — PAUL LUKAS | ![]() |
