April 19 -- We nominated and you voted. As the season came to a close, NBA.com asked who you thought was most deserving for each of the six major regular-season awards. With the results in and the ballots tabulated, here are the winners of the 2003-04 fan awards:

Most Valuable Player

Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers (50.7%)
Even despite a slightly reduced role for the new-look Lakers, Bryant topped the 20-5-5 mark for the fourth straight year.
Second place: Kevin Garnett, Minnesota (31.1%)
Third place: Tim Duncan, San Antonio (5.7%)

Carmelo Anthony, Denver (59.3%)
The third overall pick in the 2003 Draft, Anthony lifted the Nuggets into the postseason. 'Melo led all rookies with 21.0 ppg.
Second place: LeBron James, Cleveland (30.0%)
Third place: Dwyane Wade, Miami (4.9%)


Defensive Player of the Year
14 nominees

Ben Wallace, Detroit (25.8%)
Two-time winner finished second in blocks (3.16 bpg) and rebounds (12.6 rpg) and seventh in steals (1.78 spg).
Second place: Ron Artest, Indiana (22.3%)
Third place: Kevin Garnett, Minnesota (13.3%)


Sixth Man Award
15 nominees

Emanuel Ginobili, San Antonio (31.8%)
Like an energy drink, Ginobili, whose numbers were up this season, provided the Spurs with a lift on both ends of the floor.
Second place: Antawn Jamison, Dallas (19.0%)
Third place: Earl Boykins, Denver (8.5%)


Most Improved Player
22 nominees

Zach Randolph, Portland (20.6%)
Blazers gave 22-year-old more minutes at the four and he gave them a 20-10 year. Talented enough to build team around.
Second place: Carlos Boozer, Cleveland (15.9%)
Third place: Emanuel Ginobili, San Antonio (11.8%)


Coach of the Year

Hubie Brown, Memphis (37.7%)
In his first full season with the Grizzlies, Brown led them to a franchise-record for wins and their first-ever playoff berth.
Second place: Jerry Sloan, Utah (14.5%)
Third place: Rick Carlisle, Indiana (8.0%)
