Jan. 30 -- Each week, the Stat Rat runs through a maze of NBA statistical data, but rewards you with the cheesy nuggets of fantasy basketball information. I would say that's one finely trained animal, but Homer J. Simpson probably put it best when he said, "Mmmm, cheesy nuggets."
Delicious a thought as that is, let's move on to our Movers and Shakers:
Stat Rat Movers = Players who've seen a recent spike in production over the past week compared to the entire season up until that point.
Stat Rat Shakers = Players who've seen a recent decrease in production over the past week compared to the entire season up until that point.
Minute Movers = Players who've seen a recent spike in playing time over the past week compared to the entire season up until that point.
Minute Shakers = Players who've seen a recent decline in playing time over the past week compared to the entire season up until that point.
An eighty-one point night gets Kobe Bryant only second place among our Movers? Believe it. In four games last week, Chauncey Billups averaged 27 points, nine assists and nearly four three-pointers. He also went 37-of-41 from the free-throw line, which is actually sub-par for a guy shooting 92.3 percent from the charity stripe this season. All in all, some big weeks from some big stars.

Vince Carter and Marcus Camby provide the yang to counterbalance our big-name Movers' ying. Carter went a vinsane 3-for-23 with nine turnovers in consecutive games against the Jazz and Clippers before his sore back forced him out of the Jan. 27 contest at Portland. But then the rejuvenating powers of Seattle's nonexistent defense worked their magic, and Carter poured in 29 points the following night against the Sonics. Camby may be rusty -- he totalled just 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting in his first two games back after missing a month with a broken right pinky finger. One might have figured that Channing Frye would get more minutes during Antonio Davis' suspension, but instead, veteran MauriceTaylor has started the past four games, and now Davis is set to return. At this rate, rust might soon be a problem for Frye, who's logged only 21 minutes per night in his last three games.

In five games starting in Cleveland's backcourt, Sasha Pavlovic is averaging 9.8 points and 1.4 threes. That's not great, but the Cavs' 5-0 record in those games is, so expect the 22-year-old from Serbia-Montenegro to continue to get playing time. Just keep in mind that Larry Hughes could be back right after the All-Star Break. Robert Swift also seems to be making a difference for his team. The seven-footer is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his four starts, and Seattle is 3-1 in that span. Owners seeking help at center should definitely look at Swift, whose stats, scant as they are, approach those of Chris Kaman.

Despite what you see here, Mark Blount will get minutes in Minnesota. The T-Wolves, who are 26th in the NBA in scoring, need his offense. You'll have to decide for yourself if he's worth the three turnovers a night.
