Apr. 17 -- There's not much left to write about this NBA season. As of Sunday, there are four days left, and you're either fighting for a championship, or just enjoy reading my musings. Either way, congratulations on your good fortune. Rather than waste your time with reminiscing about the past season or humorous injuries, I thought we would try to see if we could figure out who will and will not play this week.

Let's start in the injury capital of the NBA: Charlotte. G/F Gerald Wallace (ribs) and PG Brevin Knight (groin) could be done for the year. Coach Bernie Bickerstaff has said that neither has anything to prove at this point and there is no statistical reason for them to play. I know I just said they could be done for the year, but let's just assume they are done for the year, and make other arrangements. There's no real NBA or fantasy reason to play either at this point of the season. If you're looking for a point guard to replace Knight, Jason Williams, who was supposed to be done for the regular season, returned to action Sunday. His minutes will be limited, but he will play this week, as will teammate James Posey. Posey is in line for significant playing time this week, and could provide an adequate replacement for Wallace.

So, does an illness count as an injury? If it does then please welcome F Charlie Villanueva to the Trainer's Table. Charlie is going to the doctor this weekend because he is worried that the flu he has suffered from the last two weeks is something besides the flu. He has been able to play despite the illness, so should be a safe play this week. Which cannot be said for PF Troy Murphy or SG Jason Richardson. Murphy has missed the last two games with an ankle injury; Richardson missed Saturday's game due to sore knees. Richardson played three consecutive games after the last game he missed due to the sore knee, making it possible he could play this week. With both Murphy and Richardson, you're taking your chances. I just don't know if either will play this week.

SF Ron Artest will play this week, but he won't be 100 percent. More accurately, his shooting won't be its usual 41 percent clip. Artest has an injured right thumb that requires padding, which led to a three-for-13 shooting night Saturday. If field goal percentage is important to your team this week, sitting Artest might be a wise move. Another wise move would be sitting C Marcus Camby and PF Kenyon Martin. Denver has no reason to play either this week and given that both are as fragile as my ego, they're expected to sit or see severely limited time. PF Chris Webber and his bad back will continue playing as long as the 76ers have chance to make the playoffs; if they get eliminated from playoff contention expect Webber to be shut down for the season. SF LeBron James will continue to play despite his sprained ankle, but don't be surprised if his minutes decrease this week as Cleveland looks to rest him for the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure Atlanta won't be in the playoffs; coincidentally F Al Harrington has missed the last three games with a bruised hand. G Delonte West also plays for one of the few Eastern Conference teams already eliminated from the playoffs chase and also happens to be injured (calf). While there's no official word that Harrington and West are done for the season, don't expect to see either again this year. C Joel Przybilla is officially out for the season with a bum knee, though if you ask me, he's been done for the season since January. So much for the contract year theory. Joel's teammate PF Zach Randolph missed Friday's game with a bone bruise on his right knee; he will be day-to-day this week along with F/C Chris Wilcox (sprained ankle), G/F Ricky Davis (groin strain) and F Kevin Garnett (right knee tendonitis). Wilcox is the safest play of the three, as even if Davis and Garnett return, the Timberwolves have said they want to take a look at some of their younger players.

The Wizards don't want to look at younger players, they want to secure the fifth seed in the East, so SF Caron Butler should play this week; then again, I think I said he would play last week. Butler promises he'll play this time, and he should know. You might not know that SF Peja Stojakovic has a sprained right wrist. He hasn't missed time, and if it's affected his play, it doesn't show up in the box scores. Speaking of box scores, don't expect to see the oft-injured G/F Corey Maggette's name in the box scores this week. He's scheduled to have an epidural for his back on Monday, and will not play again in the regular season. Another frequent Trainer's Table visitor you might not see in the box scores again this year is SG Manu Ginobili, who has now missed three games with contusions to both his left calf and shin. And while G Dwyane Wade is not injured, he'll likely see greatly reduced playing time this week.

PG Gilbert Arenas and G Kirk Hinrich are both listed as day-to-day, but with their teams fighting for playoffs spots or seedings, both are safe starts this week. Just to save time, the Knicks guards actually playing this week are Jamal Crawford and Steve Francis. Look for the Suns, Pistons, Heat, Nets, Mavericks and Nuggets to rest players this week.

Well, that was sort of painful, sorry about that. That's all I have for this week. Good luck this week and thanks for reading this year.
