Note that "Round 1" is the Franchise Player selections. This "round" was not performed in a draft format. All GM's submitted their franchise player based on preseason ratings. The higher the rating, the lower they would pick in the draft. Therefore, the Atlanta Hawks GM kept Marvin Williams, whom he felt was underrated and destined for a big year. His pay-off was the number one pick. All Franchise Selections were made blindly -- GM's did not know which players were being kept by other GM's.
