Jon Loomer: I'm seriously testing if anyone is paying attention today. Not only am I starting the chat late, but I announce it at the last minute. Lightning round!
Got my two peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwiches and a Sprite. Them's thinkin' food. Let's do it!
Mikael, Berlin: Who's worth a pickup? K Perkins or Darko?
Jon Loomer: I can't believe I'm saying this, Mikael... Both are. Assuming you aren't in a small league, thereby decreasing their values. Both players are playing surprisingly well and are worth a shot given the difficulty of filling the center position -- particularly in leagues where two starting centers are required or you own Yao.
Danny (Detroit): I gave up Calderon, Luol Deng, and Bargnani for Manu and Bosh. Do you think its a good deal or do you think Bosh is too big of a risk?
Jon Loomer: Risks abound in that deal, Danny. I'm a Bosh owner, and his latest comments that his knee isn't feeling any better are certainly concerning. Calderon's risk is that he's become very inconsistent as TJ Ford has been shuttled in and out of the lineup. And neither Deng or Bargnani are models of consistency these days. That said, Manu may be the best player in the deal... Worth the risk, Danny. You done good. Let's just hope Bosh gets healthy.
Eddie (Portland): I'm in a 10-team H2H, should I trade Kaman, will he attract quality trades? Most good centers are gone from my wire, any newly traded centers will give a boost in performance these last 4 weeks? Thanks Jon.
Jon Loomer: Kaman is putting his owners in a tough spot. I've said all year long to hold onto him because I'm not sold that Brand will come back -- or at least come back effectively. And having the prospect of Brand returning lowers Kaman's value. Now Kaman has been repeatedly beaten up, and doesn't seem available for back-to-back games due to... well, his back. So, I'd certainly entertain offers, but I fear you won't get any that excite you. I'm more concerned about his back than I am Brand.
Barry, L.A.: Is it time to cut Brand ?
Jon Loomer: Depends on your team and scoring system. If you're in a H2H league, there is still good reason to hold onto him, assuming you don't need the spot he's filling. Otherwise, I wouldn't be too worried about losing him in a Points or Roto league if there's someone else available who can help you now.
Julen (Bilbao): PLEASE!!! Mr.Loomer, in 30 teams H2H I'm leading and with Marion, J-Richardson, S-Jax, Sheed, Brand, Arenas..(amazing) But playoffs are here and Brand and Arenas injuried. What should I do? Thanks for all
Jon Loomer: This is crazy. In a 30-team league, you have Brand and Arenas and are leading the way. I can only imagine you picked them up off of waivers after their injuries. Otherwise, that is downright insanity if you drafted both and made it this far. Either way, nice work. If you're leading, why mess with it? If either or both players return, it can only get better for you. If your team was otherwise scrapping for a playoff spot or wouldn't be competitive in your playoffs, I'd be more anxious to make a move. Stay put. Any return is gravy.
Mike (Miami): TRADE DEADLINE HELP!!! Should I trade Pau/Vince/KevinMartin for D.How/Iggy/R.Jeff?
Jon Loomer: This is a tough question without knowing your team needs and league scoring. But in a vacuum, I'd prefer Howard over Pau, Iggy over Vince, and RJ/Martin a virtual wash. In other words, I would do the trade, if you're dealing Pau.
Julen (Spain): Mr Loomer, What do you think about the players I name X-Factors: Shane Battier, Raja Bell, S.Jackson... Are interesting the players who give you all around contribution or I should take Gordon or Randolph at the same FSPI. Thanks
Jon Loomer: Always depends on need, Julen. Clearly, if you need boards then someone like Randolph can do the most damage. I'm big on Battier, who is historically underrated and is getting more time to shine with Yao out of the lineup. He is the type of player who can help you a little across the board without doing major damage anywhere (outside of a lack of scoring). The nice thing about SJax is that he qualifies at three positions on NBA.com. That alone makes him a nice X factor as you deal with injuries and position limits. I'd take those two over Gordon or Randolph in most cases.
Marissa (Chicago): Heya Loomer. Should I dump Nazr for Noah? Dampier? Can you suggest a couple good wire Cs? The higher the ft %, the better. Thanks!
Jon Loomer: I'd look at Kendrick Perkins, Marissa. I know, Kendrick Perkins. Nothing exciting, but the guy has been nasty lately, and you might as well ride the wave. You're also right to look at Noah. And believe it or not, Darko is an option. None of them shoot for a great FT%, but they won't take enough attempts to do any damage at this stage.
Eddie (Portland): In a 10-team H2H, should I trade Kaman, will I get anything fair in return? If not, any newly traded centers that could perform well still on the wire in 50% of the leagues? Thanks Jon.
Jon Loomer: Hey, Eddie. I answered your first question a few back. But regarding centers that could perform well, I'd check out the Most Added list. It includes Perkins (13.1% owned), Troy Murphy (86.9% owned), and Jeff Foster (4.8% owned). Otherwise, go back to Darko and the old stand-byes.
Jon Loomer: Those were some good sandwiches. Seriously. PB + banana slices is totally underrated.
Julen (Spain): Mr Loomer, What do you think about the Wade efect now in Miami? Who will absorve most of the value? Anyone out of Cook, Banks and Marion? Thanks
Jon Loomer: First, shame on anyone who still had Wade. I've been telling you for too long to unload the talented guard. I hear ya, though. I'm a Baron Davis owner. You press your luck, trying to squeeze every bit of value out of him. Waited too long...
Anyway, the quick and easy answer is that it helps everyone on that team from a fantasy standpoint. That's 25-30 points that need to be picked up somewhere. The early returns show Ricky Davis as the winner in that category. FINALLY, a Ricky Davis showing. And, yes, ya gotta think that Marion will be the focal point of this team going forward. Other players who may see a small spike include Banks, Quinn, and Cook.
Jon Loomer: ok, that's all I have time for today. Thanks for dropping by on short notice. Good luck this week!
