Moderator: Dalton's here. He's primed and ready. Let's talk fantasy hoops.
Glen(MI): hello Dalton, foye and ford are still available in my league waiver wire r they worth picking up right now?? i have free space available on my bench?
Dalton Del Don: Yes, I'd stash both - especially if you have the roster space. I'm a little concerned about Ford, who is no lock to return anytime soon, but the news on Foye is positive. I expect he'll be back by the end of the month, and in Minny, there's no reason not to hand him the point guard job immediately.
Chris (NYC): Pau Gasol has had a few good games is it time to sell high or cheer his return?
Dalton Del Don: Gasol has frustrated me this year, as he's been really slow to be integrated in the new offense. Still, he's too good of a player for it to last, as evidenced by his recent stretch. Since his overall numbers are still down somewhat, I don't think this is the time to sell. I expect him to only continue to improve from here on out. Keep him
Chris (Toronto): GreetingsMr. Del Don! I've got Mohommad on my team but Webster and Wright are available on my ww....should I drop Nazr for one of these guys? I'm looking for blocks and rebounds.
Dalton Del Don: Mohammed sure looked good for his first few games in Charlotte. However, it's clear coach Vincent doesn't want him and Okafor on the floor at the same time, really limiting Mohammed's minutes. I'd roll the dice with Webster - at least he's a starter.
Josh (D.C.): Dalton - Should I move AK-47 and JRich for D.Wade? 8cat H2H
Dalton Del Don: I wouldn't do it and here's why. Wade is a fantasy monster, no doubt, but he's very banged up right now, and with Miami looking highly unlikely to make the playoffs, I could easily see the team shut Wade down toward the end of the season. In a H2H league, that's likely to be during your crucial playoffs. I'd stand pat. J-Rich has really turned it around of late.
Louis Williams: Am I going to get enough consistent playing time to help Philly? Or at least enough PT to help some fantasy teams with some good numbers?
Dalton Del Don: I like Williams' game, and in Philly they have every reason to play him while looking toward the future. For now, expect decent PT and moderate fantasy value. However, if/when Andre Miller is traded, Williams is a must-own and could be a very valuable fantasy player.
Coco (Louisville): What are your expectations on Bibby the rest of the way? 17-3-5, 2 threes, 1.5 steal (if lucky). Maybe he'll regain his 45% shooting touch he used to have now that whatever was bothering him is apparently fixed.
Dalton Del Don: All of those numbers seem reasonable, although his steals have been in decline over the past couple of years. Hopefully, the thumb is healed and last year's woeful shooting was only an aberration. It will be interesting to see how he fits in new coach Reggie Theus' system, but he's definitely worth using in fantasy leagues.
kaman: is brand going to reduce my production when he comes back (is he going to be back by the way)
Dalton Del Don: Kaman has been one of the very best surprises in fantasy this season, and I wouldn't be looking to trade him. Elton Brand might not even come back, and if he does, I'd expect his minutes to be limited. The Clippers should be worrying about next year. Kaman is someone to hold onto with confidence, at least for this year.
Kyle (London): I'm looking to deal Wade (due to injury concerns). What other PG's should I try to get? I was thinking Deron Williams...
Dalton Del Don: If you can get Chris Paul - do it in a heartbeat. Also, try for Allen Iverson. If those fail, Deron Williams isn't a bad fall back option. He's not quite as dynamic as the others, but he's a huge help in assists and doesn't come with the injury risk that Wade does.
Marko (Miami): Dalton, any insight if Bargnani will remain in the starting lineup for the Raps? Also, do you think he is better than, Yi, Joe Smith, Damp, Nazr and Outlaw?
Dalton Del Don: I would assume he'll stay in the starting five, since he showed so much promise as a rookie - you know the skills are there. He's been a disappointment, no doubt, but I'd still hold onto him over those other options. Although it does appear that Yi has a bright future in the league.
aslantas (istanbul): amare vs butler - i have dhoward - h2h, weekly, total points
Dalton Del Don: I'd actually side with Butler - he's been an absolute monster without Gilbert Arenas in the lineup, basically contributing in every category. I expect it to continue. The only way I'd see taking Amare over him is if you were in greater need of blocks. Otherwise, Butler is a top-10 fantasy player right now, at a minimum.
Charles (Oxon Hill): Hey Del, I've got Ronnie Brewer on my team but the addition of Korver to the Jazz worries me. Who holds more value in a 9 CAT H2H league from here on out. Ronnie Brewer or Randy Foye?
Dalton Del Don: That's a very good question without an easy answer. Since Foye is coming off a fairly serious injury, I'd say Brewer is the safer choice. However, I agree that Korver's addition hurts Brewer's value, so I'm going to say Foye has more upside. Brewer is a terrific help in steals, but if forced, I'd choose to have Foye over him from here on out.
Dr. Doom (NYC): Do you see Jeff Green continuing to develop into a viable fantasy player or do you think there's more bench time on the horizon for him?
Dalton Del Don: I see Green continuing to develop. There's no reason for Seattle not to roll with the youth movement and build toward the future. They took him in the draft so early to play him, not to bench him for veterans who won't be with the team the next time they reach the postseason. I like Green's well-rounded game, and he makes for a fine fantasy play in deeper leagues right now.
Stefan (Toronto): down the stretch who do you go with: Carlos Arroyo or Jameer Nelson?
Dalton Del Don: I'll side with Jameer Nelson. Even though he's the one currently coming off the bench, it seems Orlando's brass has his back, and he offers a little more fantasywise anyway. I'd love to see what Arroyo could do with 37 minutes per game, but unfortunately, it looks like a time share in Orlando, meaning neither will have all that much fantasy value. But I'd side with Nelson, barely.
Andy (MPLS): Gerald Wallace going to keep this recent tear up or should I sell high? What level player should I target if I sell high - Top 20?
Dalton Del Don: With Wallace, there's always pretty big injury risk, so if you want to play it safe, see what he'll bring in return. And yes, demand top-20 talent. If you can't get it, keep him - I expect him to continue to play at this high of a level. But I can also understand you dealing away the injury risk as well.
Josh (D.C.): Is JRich a sell High right now - or will the studliness continue?
Dalton Del Don: I'd probably hold onto him, because his overall numbers are still weighed down somewhat by his less than great start to the season. And that was to be expected - it just took him a while to learn a whole new offensive system. But I'd expect the studliness to continue. He's finally healthy after a couple of years dealing with a bad knee, and that offense in Charlotte basically runs through him.
Wally, Miami: I've got B.Miller - sell high? Is he going to lose all his value as Bibby, Artest, etc return?
Dalton Del Don: Yes, now here's someone I'd consider a sell-high. He worked hard all offseason, so this bounce back year isn't by accident, but his numbers should take a dip once Sacramento gets fully healthy. He'll still be plenty serviceable, but now is the time to shop him if you're so inclined.
Jose (Cancun): Holla Mr. Dalton, would you recommend I drop Gooden for Yi? I already have Redd and MWilliams on my team and am concerned on having too many Bucks. Gracias amigo.
Dalton Del Don: Yeah, I'd probably make that swap. I wouldn't concern myself with having too many players from one team - I don't think that's a big deal at all. Gooden has lost most of his value with Anderson Varejao's return, and at least Yi comes with some upside.
Pouch on the Couch: Jeff Green or J Moon? Who's the better pick up for the season?
Dalton Del Don: I'd rather have Jeff Green, if only because his draft status ensures his playing time a little bit more. He's going to get serious run in Seattle from here on out, and while Moon has shown flashes, I still like Green's overall game more.
Sonny (Vancouver): Should I expect Travis Outlaw's slide to continue? Is it time to cut ties?
Dalton Del Don: He's actually averaged close to 18.0 points per game the last two outings, so there's some newfound reason for optimism, but if there's someone else out there on your waiver wire you're looking at, by all means, cut ties with Outlaw - he's got a limited fantasy ceiling.
Adrian D'Marti (Puerto Rico): Would you drop Felton for either Tinsley, Bibby or Ford?
Dalton Del Don: No, I wouldn't. The only one I'd even consider doing that for is Tinsley, and he's currently hurt and has shown a propensity for injury throughout his career. However, Tinsley has been very, very good when on the floor this season. If you can take the hit in FG percentage, I'd strongly recommend you pick him up. But find someone other than the valuable Felton to drop. This must be a shallow league.
Gent (San Diego): please help! my team is struggling and the only piece I have to trade is Dwight Howard. I was offered Nash and Butler for Dwight, Josh Howard and Felton. Im in a 9 cat daily h2h. Please advise, thanks Mr. Dalton.
Dalton Del Don: I'd do it. Dwight Howard is a fantasy monster, but he kills your FT percentage and TO cats. H2H means that doesn;t hurt you quite as much, but still, you'd be getting back two top-10 fantasy players in my eyes. Butler and Nash are elite, whereas the other two pieces you'd be trading away are simply just 'good.' I'd pull the trigger and do the deal.
Brian, SF: What are some buy-low options right now? ALso, who can I get in return of Brad Miller? Top 50-70 players?
Thank you!
Dalton Del Don: How about Lamar Odom (underachieving coming off injury) and Ron Artest as buy-lows? Artest was huge before hurting his elbow. See if his owner is impatient. He was a top-15 fantasy player before going down. Another might be Kevin Durant, who is off to a slower NBA start than some expected. He could be in store for a huge second half to the season...Brad Miller should net you a around a top 50-70 player just like you said. That sounds right.
Howard LA: Should I deal away Gerald Wallace for Caron BUtler?
Dalton Del Don: Ya, I'd do it. With the way Wallace plays with reckless abandon, he's prone to injuries. He's very good, don't get me wrong, but with Gilbert Arenas now looking less likely to return at all this season, Caron Butler is (like I previously said) a top-10 fantasy player. Wallace is also a big negative in FT percentage and turnovers.
ben, toronto: is this a good trade to make? i would be getting dunleavy, iguodala, and salmons for bynum, roy, and ellis. thanks for your help!
Dalton Del Don: No, I wouldn't do that deal. Dunleavy is having a career-year and Iguodala is of course valuable, but Salmons should lose almost all of his value once Artest, Kevin Martin and Bibby return to the lineup. Moreover, Bynum, Roy and Ellis are all studs who are young and are only going to get better. Don't do it.
Hawthorne Wingo (San Fran): What's going to happen to Salmons and Garcia and Beno when KMart and Bibby return to the Kings lineup?
Dalton Del Don: I expect Garcia and Beno to get hurt the worst - Artest, Martin and Bibby will command quite a bit of those minutes. Salmons has played so well, he'll have to remain in the mix, but there's no denying each one will take a major hit in their fantasy value.
Jose (Costa Rica): Should I trade JO? What can I get in return?
Dalton Del Don: He's someone I'd be shopping. His minutes (and production) are way down this season, but you can't sell him too low. See if you can get a top-40 player in return. If not, don't trade him just for the sake of it. Try for Carmelo Anthony, Mike Miller, Tracy McGrady types. But good luck.
Darrell (Toronto): Was Rashard Lewis's 2006-07 year as a top 15 fantasy player a one and done for him. Has he become a one trick pony (3 ptm) this year with the Magic or are his numbers down because of the neck injury? I have him and am pondering making him trade bait.
Dalton Del Don: I'd side with making him trade bait. I worry the same thing - that's he's fast becoming a one-trick pony (threes). His best season came in a career-year, and Orlando is going to run their offense through Dwight Howard for the next decade. He's still a valuable fantasy player, but his perceived value may be higher than his true worth right now. Shop him.
Moderator: That's it. Thanks everyone for dropping by. The next chat is expected to be next Tuesday at the same time.
