For those of you who think we don't put much thought into these pieces, check out this IM conversation between Jon Loomer and your's truly. While I am taking the easy way out by copying and pasting our exchange, I wanted to show you how we "experts" come to our decisions. The pick for Wednesday is Wally Szczerbiak.
Rob: Hola.
Jon: Hollla!
Rob: Hey ... Delonte West?
Jon: yeah, think so.
Jon: wouldn't want to touch the other series right now.
Jon: not that either is a slam dunk.
Rob: Well, we've used all the relevant Jazz.
Jon: AK-47!
Jon: he's named after a gun!
Jon: an assault rifle!
Rob: Yeah ...
Jon: which means he's awesome, right?
Rob: Maybe we should save him for Game 6?
Rob: I just think there's more of a chance for a higher PRA from LAL-UTA than BOS-CLE
Jon: save who?
Rob: Kirilenko.
Jon: oh, yeah. I was being sarcastic.
Rob: What about Derek Fisher?
Jon: If we're going to pick a Laker, start from the top.
Jon: but I see no reason to pick a Laker yet.
Rob: West had an eight PRA -- at home in Game 4
Jon: BOOM goes the dynamite!
Jon: he also had a 33 the game before.
Jon: I wouldn't expect big things from him. He's just someone we use right now.
Jon: keeping in mind we'll be using lots of players like him later.
Rob: 11, 15, 33, 8
Rob: I know ...
Jon: I mapped this out yeterday to see if there's any reason to take a player from a favorite even if we expect that favorite to advance. Don't see it yet.
Rob: Fisher: 14, 25, 17, 15
Rob: OK...
Rob: I just hate the BOS-CLE series ... there's no gold there.
Jon: The advantage will be when we get deep in this round and we're looking at a player who averages under 15. But then, we'll also be looking at elimination games when we're going to be taking stars anyway.
Jon: and that's great from Fisher, but again. If we're going to take a Laker, take Kobe, Gasol or Odom. No reason to take Fisher over any of them.
Jon: Wish Boston would've won last night. Things are getting sticky.
Rob: Gross even.
Rob: We have no good choices. We've used LeBron, Z, D-Will, Boozer and Okur
Rob: Wally?
Rob: 17, 17, 17, 18
Jon: yeah, Wally should be considered. I wouldn't argue with you either way, between Wally or West if you have an argument for it.
Jon: even Boobie.
Rob: I'll take consistency over the Delonte West roller coaster ride...
Jon: works for me.
Rob: Ugh... even worse with Boobie: 8, 3, 7, 24
Rob: Let's go Wally ... Szczerbiak that is.
Jon: I just want to pick Boobie to say I picked Boobie.
Rob: You would.

1. Andrei Kirilenko, UTA @ LAL (16.8 PRA)
2. Kevin Garnett, BOS vs. CLE (32.8 PRA)
3. Kobe Bryant, LAL vs. UTA (47.1 PRA)

| If you wish to use someone from the Jazz, AK-47 is your man. We've already used all the relevant PRA guys from that squad, but if you have Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer or Mehmet Okur at your disposal, by all means, use 'em.
Also, if you're bold and you think Boston and the Lakers will lose their respective Game 5s at home, feel free to pull out the big guns -- KG or Kobe. You'd be bold, but we wouldn't agree with it. Then again, genius is often misunderstood at first.
