This is going to be a great year. Following last week's NBA Cares Celebrity Fantasy League draft, we conducted a couple of interviews with league members, and the trash talk has begun...
Adam McKay
McKay Excerpt:
"I gotta tell ya, I was shocked by Bill Simmons' choices. I really wondered if he doesn't just have other things going on in his life or he didn't notice they take into account turnovers and missed shots. One of the strangest teams I've ever seen assembled. My number one prediction is that Bill Simmons will finish dead last, and it will do tangible damage to his reputation in the sports world."
Bill Simmons
Simmons Excerpt:
"I think [McKay] was talking about a Bizarro League. I'm surprised he even knew about the draft, I was convinced that the computer drafted his team. His two centers are Brad Miller and Joel Przybilla. This would be awesome if it were 1953. When Miller and Przybilla go head to head, I hope someone posts a video of McKay watching this with his head in his hands on funnyordie.com. Wait, I shouldn't make fun of him - he's going to be trying to trade for one of my centers in three weeks."

Bill Simmons vs. Kenny Smith
Nice! Great way to kick off the season. Kenny's consistently been the butt of Simmons jokes in this league throughout the first two seasons. Bill isn't letting up this year: "...I think Kenny Smith will finish last, which he deserves because he let his kids pick his team again." Bill has predicted an undefeated season, but he will be challenged early and often without Dwyane Wade in his lineup. He'll have 26 games this week, including only two from Pierce, and Shaq and Durant are nursing injuries. Kenny, on the other hand, is at full strength with 27 games.
Prediction: Simmons' undefeated season ends in Week 1. Kenny Smith wins.

This one's tough. Teams are evenly matched and both rosters have a full week of games. Bernie has three players with four games a piece (including Carlos Boozer) vs. McKay's 29 (four for Deron Williams). All things being equal, Bernie has to get the edge due to the one game advantage.
Prediction: Bernie wins in a squeaker.
Will Ferrell vs. James Denton
Denton is starting a roster that includes Chucky Atkins (lost his starting job), Jason Terry (ditto), Samuel Dalembert (injured), and Stephen Jackson (suspended). Will Ferrell enjoys four-game weeks from both Yao and McGrady.
Prediction: Ferrell wins in a blow-out.
Zach Gilford vs. Samuel L. Jackson
The rookie Gilford faces off against a Fantasy League veteran in Jackson. Gilford will hang close due to a one game advantage, but Sam clearly has one of the premier rosters in this league.
Prediction: Jackson lays his vengeance upon Gilford.

Two game weeks are a plenty for Spike Lee and his Knicks -- er, fantasy team. Ray Allen, Zach Randolph, Al Jefferson and Eddy Curry all play two games this week. Lopez, on the other hand, has the superior roster and a four-game advantage.
Prediction: Lopez flashes the Reggie Miller universal choke sign by Wednesday.
Donald Faison vs. Tony Potts
Battle of the rookies. Faison enjoys four games from Josh Howard, but Kevin Garnett plays only two. Tony Potts' main obstacles are two games from Mike Miller/Darko and a shortage of hair gel. If he can overcome the hair gel problem, this game is his.
Prediction: Potts hoists the week 1 trophy.
Will Bill Simmons' undefeated season end before it starts? to follow these match-ups.
