Salim Stoudamire: Sits Out Tuesday's Game
Update: Stoudamire sat out Tuesday night's loss to San Antonio with a right ankle sprain.
Analysis: The Hawks are hurting in the backcourt, with Stoudamire, Acie Law, Speedy Claxton and Tyronn Lue all sitting out against the Spurs. Atlanta plays again on Wednesday at Miami.
Tyronn Lue: Sits Out Tuesday's Game
Update: Lue sat out Tuesday night's loss to San Antonio with a groin pull.
Analysis: Lue, who started the Hawks' previous game, was replaced in the starting lineup by Anthony Johnson. The Hawks come right back on Wednesday at Miami.
Anthony Johnson: Starts at Point Guard Tuesday
Update: Johnson started at point guard Tuesday night and played 40 minutes in Atlanta's loss to San Antonio.
Analysis: Johnson's the only healthy point guard on the roster, so expect him to get some run in the short-term. He had two points on 1-of-5 shooting with four rebounds and seven assists (no turnovers).
Shawne Williams: Team-High 24 Points
Update: Williams scored a team-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including three 3-pointers Tuesday night in Indiana's loss to the Lakers.
Analysis: Williams isn't bashful about shooting the 3-pointer and that can be a good thing on a Jim O'Brien-coached team. He's made 12-of-26 from long distance in eight games (3.3 per game) while averaging just over 21 minutes per game.
Shawne Williams: Scores Career-High
Update: Williams scored a career-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting Tuesday.
Analysis: He also went 3-of-5 from downtown and 5-of-5 from the line in just 25 minutes of court time. The 17th pick of the 2006 NBA Draft, Williams is showing signs of breaking out this season.
Kobe Bryant: Scores 32 in Win
Update: Bryant had 32 points, six rebounds, four assists and five 3-pointers during the Lakers' 134-114 win over the Pacers Tuesday.
Analysis: Bryant went 8-of-16 from the field and 11-of-11 from the line in just 31 minutes of action. After making a trade earlier in the day, the Lakers were short-handed, so this was an impressive victory on the road.
Vladimir Radmanovic: Starts at Power Forward
Update: Radmanovic started at power forward Tuesday night in the Lakers' victory over Indiana. Radmanovic had 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting (three 3-pointers) with seven rebounds in 18 minutes.
Analysis: With Ronny Turiaf (ankle) sidelined, the Lakers have been starting Brian Cook at power forward, but he was traded to Orlando Tuesday. He's hit 10 3-pointers in his last four games, and has at least one 3-pointer in nine of his 10 games played this season. Turiaf's injury is not considered serious, so we expect Radmanovic to be back on the bench soon.
LeBron James: Another Big Night
Update: James poured in 34 points with seven rebounds and seven assists during the Cavs' loss Tuesday.
Analysis: James went 11-of-22 from the floor and most importantly, 11-of-12 from the line. He also added one 3-pointer, one steal and one block in 44 minutes of playing time. He'll battle Jason Kidd for the league-lead in triple-doubles this season and has been an absolute fantasy monster so far.
Mo Williams: Efficient in Win
Update: Williams scored 20 points with six rebounds and nine assists in the Bucks' win over the Cavs Tuesday.
Analysis: He hit 7-of-15 shots from the field and didn't commit a single turnover in 41 minutes of action.
Andrew Bynum: Starts Tuesday Night
Update: Bynum started at center in place of the injured Kwame Brown Tuesday night in the Lakers' victory over Indiana.
Analysis: Bynum had 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field with 10 points, four blocks and a steal in 28 minutes. Brown is out indefinitely, so we expect Bynum to get ample minutes while Brown's out.
Mehmet Okur: Sits Out Tuesday's Practice
Update: Okur sat out Tuesday's practice with a sore back, the Deseret News reports.
Analysis: This could be just a precautionary measure. With the Jazz off until Friday, there's no need to put Okur through the paces right now.
Al Harrington: Ten Minutes Tuesday Night
Update: Harrington was limited to 10 minutes Tuesday night because of foul trouble in Golden State's victory over New York.
Analysis: With the Warriors in cruise control over the Knicks, Harrington, who picked up four quick fouls, was not needed. This was just an anomaly as Harrington averages 34:12 minutes per game. Expect him to resume a normal workload Wednesday night at Boston.
Renaldo Balkman: Sits Out Tuesday
Update: Balkman sat out Tuesday's loss to Golden State with a sore right ankle, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: This is the same ankle that forced him to miss two games last week.
Stephen Jackson: Seven Assists Tuesday
Update: Jackson had 23 points on 8-of-19 shoting with six rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocked shots in 39 minutes Tuesday night in Golden State's victory over New York.
Analysis: In his two games back from a seven-game suspension, Jackson has 40 points and 12 assists. On the negative side, Jackson was 2-of-10 from 3-point range and turned the ball over four times, but it's good to see him back on the floor after the suspension. As the team's captain, Jackson's presence makes a difference for the Warriors, who have won three straight.
Stephon Marbury: Returns to Starting Lineup
Update: Marbury returned to the Knicks' starting lineup Tuesday in New York's 108-82 loss to Golden State.
Analysis: Marbury scored 18 points (6-for-14 FG, 1-for-4 3pt, 5-for-5 FT) to go along with six rebounds, five assists and a steal in 38 minutes. With rumors swirling around about Isiah Thomas being fired, fantasy players who own Marbury should be nervous about his future.
T.J. Ford: Leaves Game With Arm Injury
Update: Fored went to the locker room in the second half of Tuesday's game against the Mavericks with what was described by Raptors announcers as an 'arm stinger'.
Analysis: No word yet on the severity of the injury, but if Ford misses any time Jose Calderon would see a big short-term bump in his value.
Al Horford: Scores 11 Off The Bench
Update: Horford had 11 points (5-of-8 FG, 1-of-2 FT), eight rebounds and a block in the Hawks' loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.
Analysis: While Zaza Pachulia is starting, Horford has been much more productive and is getting the minutes.
Joe Johnson: Leads Hawks in Scoring in Loss
Update: Johnson had 20 points (9-of-20 FG, 0-of-3 3-PT, 2-of-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists in the Hawks' loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.
Analysis: Johnson lead the Hawks in scoring, but he did not have a great fantasy night as he did not make a 3-pointer or have any steals.
Marvin Williams: Good All-Around Production in Loss
Update: Williams had 16 points (7-of-13 FG, 2-of-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks in the Hawks' loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.
Analysis: Williams had the all-around production on Tuesday that is typically reserved for Josh Smith. It is good to see Williams bounce back after a tough night against the Bucks.
Josh Smith: Struggles After Season-High
Update: Smith had 11 points (3-of-16 FG, 0-of-1 3-PT, 5-of-6 FT), five rebounds, a steal and two blocks in the Hawks' loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.
Analysis: After scoring 38 against Milwaukee, Smith couldn't buy a basket and did not contribute in other areas at the level that fantasy owners have come to expect.
Manu Ginobili: 19 Points in Win
Update: Ginobili had 19 points (7-of-11 FG, 2-of-3 3-PT, 3-of-4 FT), four rebounds and two steals in the Spurs' win over the Hawks on Tuesday.
Analysis: The Spurs got out to a big lead so Ginobili did not play enough to have a great night as he got only 26 minutes.
Fabricio Oberto: Double-Double in Win
Update: Oberto had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Spurs' win over the Hawks on Tuesday
Analysis: Oberto and Francisco Elson continue to split minutes, and neither are consistent enough to warrant fantasy consideration.
Tim Duncan: Unselfishness Continues
Update: Duncan had 13 points (5-of-12 FG, 0-of-1 3-PT, 3-of-4 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and a block in the Spurs' win over the Hawks on Tuesday.
Analysis: Duncan continues to lack the big numbers that fantasy owners need. He is below his career averages in every major category except free-throw percentage. However, as long as the Spurs continue to win, don't expect Duncan to become selfish.
Tony Parker: Great Night For Parker
Update: Parker had 31 points (13-of-20 FG, 1-of-1 3-PT, 4-of-4 FT) and nine assists in the Spurs' win over the Hawks on Tuesday.
Analysis: After two subpar scoring nights, Parker got the scoring touch back and helped fantasy owners with his nine assists. Parker is above his career averages in both assists and 3-point shooting this season.
Jorge Garbajosa: Out after MRI
Update: Garbajosa was inactive for Tuesday night's game after team doctors noticed something unusual on an MRI of his leg, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Garbajosa has missed three of the last four games because he has been bothered by the leg he broke last season. He is not expected to practice or play until doctors can determine the cause of the irregularity on the MRI.
Deron Williams: Has Minor Surgery
Update: Williams missed practice Tuesday to have surgery on a in-grown toenail, the Deseret Morning News reports.
Analysis: The surgery is considered minor, and Williams may be able to return by Utah's next game on Friday.
Bo Outlaw: Released by the Magic
Update: Outlaw was waived by the Magic Tuesday.
Analysis: He only appeared in two games this year and had to be cut to free up roster space for newly acquired Brian Cook and Maurice Evans.
Trevor Ariza: Traded to the Lakers
Update: Ariza was traded to the Lakers on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Ariza wasn't getting consistent playing time in Orlando, but was able to score in double digits in both games that he played more than 20 minutes. The 22 year-old is averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11 games this year.
Maurice Evans: Dealt to Magic
Update: Evans was dealt to the Magic on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Evans was sent with Brian Cook to Orlando for Trevor Ariza. He averaged 4.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in about 14 minutes per game for the Lakers this season.
Brian Cook: Traded to Magic
Update: Cook was traded to the Magic Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Cook and swingman Maurice Evans were dealt for forward Trevor Ariza. Cook should see a little more action in Orlando -- he played sparingly for the Lakers this season and only averaged 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in about 12 minutes per game.
Gilbert Arenas: Out for Second Consecutive Game
Update: Arenas (knee) missed his second consecutive game Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Coach Eddie Jordan said, "He's just not ready to play, he doesn't feel that his knee is capable of being good tonight, so we're going to give him another day." Arenas was expected to return Tuesday after three days of rest and now will likely miss a few more games, with Washington starting a run of four games in five days on Tuesday.
Mike Conley: Out Indefinitely
Update: Conley has been sidelined indefinitely with an injured right shoulder.
Analysis: Conley injured his shoulder Saturday against Dallas. He has been placed on the inactive list and will miss a minimum of two to three weeks. Conley has averaged 5.6 points and 4.2 assists in five games this season.
Vince Carter: Returns to Practice
Update: Carter returned to practice Tuesday after missing 10 days with an ankle injury, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: If Carter feels good Wednesday morning he will likely play against Portland Wednesday night. He said there is no pain and that the ankle is getting better every day, so he should be back in the lineup soon.
Theo Ratliff: To Miss Wednesday's Game
Update: Ratliff will miss Wednesday's game with a knee injury and is set to visit renown sports physician James Andrews this week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Although this isn't baseball, it's still not a good sign any time Dr. James Andrews is mentioned. We'd expect Ratliff to be out awhile as a result.
Sebastian Telfair: Will Miss Wednesday's Game
Update: Telfair miss Wednesday's game to attend the funeral of his grandmother in New York, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: He'll likely return for Friday's game against Cleveland. Marko Jaric will get more minutes at point guard as a result.
Marcin Gortat: Assigned to D-League
Update: The Magic assigned Gortat to Anaheim of the NBA Development League.
Analysis: Gortat has been inactive in 11 of 12 games and was a DNP in the only game for which he was active.
Nick Fazekas: Assigned to D-League
Update: The Mavericks assigned Fazekas to Tulsa of the NBA Development League.
Analysis: Fazekas played in two games for Dallas this season, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds.
Stephon Marbury: Return to Starting Lineup
Update: Marbury will return to the starting lineup Tuesday night against Golden State, the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: After leaving the team last week in Phoenix, Marbury has come off the bench for the last three games -- all Knick losses. From a basketball standpoint, the move makes sense because Mardy Collins was not the answer at the point.
Eric Snow: Debut Tuesday?
Update: Snow (knee) could make his season-debut Tuesday night against the Bucks, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Snow will unlikely see a lot of playing time once healthy, as the Cavs have Daniel Gibson and Damon Jones manning the point guard position.
Rashard Lewis: Leading the League in Three-Pointers
Update: Lewis scored 19 points in Orlando's victory over New Orleans on Monday night.
Analysis: Lewis also grabbed seven rebounds and made five more three-pointers in the game, bringing his season total to a league-leading 39. Lewis' three-point prowess and exceptional percentages have helped him become one of fantasy basketball's best at this point of the season.
Jameer Nelson: Another Strong Game
Update: Nelson scored 16 points and dished out five assists in Orlando's victory over New Orleans on Monday night.
Analysis: Nelson has found his jumper again and has also done a better job of limiting his turnovers. As a bonus, he's shooting a sparkling 92.3 percent from the free throw line. Nelson's strong point guard play has had a big impact on Orlando's 10-2 start.
Quinton Ross: Questionable Versus Denver
Update: Ross (bruised knee) is a game-time decision Wednesday against the Nuggets.
Analysis: The shooting guard banged his right knee in the first half of Saturday's loss to Chicago and did not return. Ross is a defensive specialist whose game doesn't appeal to fantasy owners.
Sam Cassell: Shooting Guard Minutes Possible
Update: Cassell may see time at shooting guard according to Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: With injuries to Corey Maggette (hamstring), Quinton Ross (bruised knee), Cuttino Mobley (groin) and Al Thornton (ankle), Dunleavy doesn't have a lot of healthy players at his disposal. Look for a spike in Cassell's playing time until more players are ready for action. He would play a whole game if his coach let him.
Al Thornton: Sprained Ankle Persists
Update: Thornton (ankle) is a game-time decision Wednesday against the Nuggets.
Analysis: He replaced Corey Maggette in a game on Nov. 16 at Golden State and sprained his right ankle after leaping for a rebound. Thornton is keeper material in the future, but he doesn't currently warrant playing time.
Cuttino Mobley: Might Sit Until Injury Improves
Update: Mobley is struggling with a strained groin, and the Clippers are considering resting him, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: The shooting guard admits the injury he suffered on Nov. 7 has affected his play, and he is only about 70% healthy. "It's funny when you can see that you can change the game if you were healthy," Mobley said. "And you are out there and you see things, but you can't do anything. It's like your brain wants do one thing when your body can't." In his last three games, playing with the injury, Mobley averaged 36.0 minutes and 11.6 points while shooting 38.7% from the floor. Sit him until his groin is completely healed.
Corey Maggette: Out Two to Three Weeks
Update: Maggette, the Clippers' leading scorer, probably will be sidelined for two to three weeks while recovering from a strained right hamstring, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: He was playing with a bruised tailbone as well, and it is likely to have contributed to his hamstring injury. This is gloomy news for Maggette owners who were enjoying the benefits of his tremendous start. In eight games, he is averaging 19.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Mikki Moore: Understands His Role
Update: Moore, who signed a three-year, $17 million free-agent contract in July, believes he understands his role for the rest of the season, the Sacramento Bee reports. The forward-center was frustrated recently with his lack of offensive touches.
Analysis: "Coming into the contract I had, I thought I could come in and be who I wanted to be," Moore said. "But that's not needed here. They need me to do other things, and I understand that." He enjoyed a career year in New Jersey last season after leading the NBA in field-goal percentage (60.9%). Despite Moore's comfort with his job description, which includes rebounding and defense, his fantasy value is low at this juncture.
Kenny Thomas: Status in Doubt on Tuesday
Update: Thomas (shin) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Phoenix.
Analysis: In Thomas' absence, Mikki Moore will likely open at power forward versus the Suns. Thomas has started three games this season, but his status was in jeopardy prior to his injury.
They need me to do other things, and I understand that." He enjoyed a career year in New Jersey last season after leading the NBA in field goal percentage (60.9%). Despite Moore's comfort with his job description, which includes rebounding and defense, his fantasy value is low at this juncture.
Andrew Bynum: Should See Increased Minutes
Update: Bynum should see increased minutes over the next few weeks, as starting center Kwame Brown is out indefinitely with a sprained MCL.
Analysis: Here are Bynum's splits per 48 minutes: 20.9 points, 19.3 rebounds (second in the league) and 2.4 blocks. With more playing time, Bynum should be a nightly double-double machine, with the capability of putting up huge games.
