Chris Duhon: Will Sit Out Sunday
Update: Duhon will not play Sunday against Detroit as he is being disciplined for missing a team workout Sunday morning in Auburn Hills, the Associated Press reports. "Chris did miss shootaround this morning," confirmed Bulls coach Jim Boylan. "He will be in uniform, but I will not play him."
Analysis: Duhon was in attendance at the Duke-UNC game Saturday night, then chartered a private flight back to Detroit after the game in Durham (N.C.), but overslept and missed the team's bus to Sunday's shootaround. The original expectation was that Duhon would just be fined but Boylan decided to have him sit out the game.
Jason Terry: Will Continue to Come off the Bench
Update: Terry will continue to come off the bench for the Mavericks, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Terry was replaced in the starting lineup by Jerry Stackhouse. In the 38 games this season that he has come off the bench, Terry has averaged 14.3 points on 44.6% shooting. The number isn't a huge drop from his 16.0 points as a starter, but continue to monitor Terry's minutes.
Jerry Stackhouse: Will Remain in Starting Lineup
Update: Stackhouse will remain the starting shooting guard for the Mavericks, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Stackhouse gives the Mavericks more flexiblity both offensively and defensively. If Stack can find a constant rhythm he is worth a look. He is currently avergaing 10.2 points and 2.3 rebounds a game.
Chris Duhon: Misses Shootaround
Update: Duhon is expected to be fined for missing Sunday's shootaround, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Duhon was in attendance at the Duke-UNC game Saturday night, then chartered a private flight back to Detroit after the game in Durham (N.C.), but overslept and missed the team's bus to Sunday's shootaround.
Mo Williams: Sits Out Third Straight
Update: Williams missed Sunday's loss to Philadelphia with an abdominal strain.
Analysis: This was the third consecutive game he's missed because of the injury.
Marko Jaric: Starts at Shooting Guard
Update: Jaric started at shooting guard and scored two points in 21 minutes in Saturday's win over the Clippers.
Analysis: Jaric should get more playing time with Sebastian Telfair out with a sprained ankle, but don't expect too much as the T-Wolves are going to give younger players more minutes.
Sebastian Telfair: Out With Sprained Ankle
Update: Telfair missed Satuday's win over the Clippers with a sprained ankle.
Analysis: He was on crutches during the game, so he could be out awhile.
Randy Foye: Scores Career-High 26 Points
Update: Foye scored a career-high 26 points with six assists and four rebounds in 39 minutes in Saturday's win over the Clippers. He started at point guard with Sebastian Telfair out with a sprained ankle.
Analysis: Foye continues to improve just six weeks back from a knee injury. Playing point guard should increase his assists in the short term.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas: Inflamed Disc Cause of Pain
Update: Ilgauskas' (back) pain that sidelined him a week ago is stemming from an inflamed disc in his lower back, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports.
Analysis: He could not set a definitive timetable on his return, but he hopes to practice in four or five days and re-evaluate his status from there. He expects to be out another week at least. We will be monitoring his status throughout the week.
David Lee: Crashing the Boards
Update: Lee started for the third straight game Saturday and came through with 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks during the Knicks' loss in overtime.
Analysis: Lee has grabbed double-digit boards in six out of the last nine contests and is fine to employ in fantasy leagues if you need help in the rebounding department. New York's frontcourt has been ravaged by injuries lately.
Dwyane Wade: May Sit More
Update: Wade (knee) may be held out of some of the team's remaining games down the stretch to help curb soreness in his surgically repaired left knee, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Wade could barely get out of bed on Friday because the pain in his knee was so bad and coach Pat Riley is taking this as a sign. Although he said he is opposed to slowing down for the remainder of the season, you may want to begin exploring more reliable options for the remainder of the season.
Quentin Richardson: Rare Big Game
Update: One day after a receiving a DNP, Richardson saw 50 minutes of action Saturday and responded with 20 points on 8-of-20 shooting.
Analysis: Richardson added five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer as well. Still, this was a rare outburst, and Richardson is a poor option in fantasy leagues.
Malik Rose: Ineffective in Start
Update: Rose got the start at center in place of the injured Eddy Curry Saturday.
Analysis: He played just six minutes and isn't a fantasy option.
Jamal Crawford: X-Rays Reveal Deep Bruise
Update: X-rays reveal Crawford sustained a deep bruise in his right hand during Friday's game against Detroit, the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: He is questionable for Monday's game against the Mavericks, but you may want to find a replacement for the hobbled Crawford in the mean time.
Eddy Curry: Will Miss Monday's Game at Dallas
Update: Curry (knee) will have an MRI on Sunday and will not make the trip to Dallas for Monday night's matchup, the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Curry hurt his right knee when he planted wrong during Friday's game with the Pistons. "I'm not too worried," Curry said, which offers an optimistic view of a close return. We will keep you posted on his status.
Tim Thomas: A Game to Forget
Update: Thomas (groin) shot 1-of-7 and scored seven points during the Clippers' 99-96 loss to the Timberwolves Saturday night.
Analysis: The veteran power forward is recovering from a groin strain, so he may be playing gingerly in the interim. In 26 minutes, he pulled down four rebounds and dished three assists. This season, Thomas is averaging 12.9 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 41.6 percent.
Dan Dickau: Starts With Knight Ailing
Update: Dickau started and had five points and five assists in the Clippers' 99-96 loss to Minnesota Saturday night.
Analysis: Brevin Knight, who is normally the starting point guard, was a late scratch due to a sore neck, so Dickau started in his place. In 28 minutes, he was 2-of-6 and notched four rebounds and a steal.
Chris Bosh: Some Progress With His Knee Saturday
Update: Bosh (knee) rode a stationary bike on Saturday, the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: The Raptors begin a five game road trip on Tuesday, and it's possible that Bosh will miss the entire trip. Keep him benched for this coming week.
Josh Boone: Left Arm
Update: Boone hurt his left arm in a scramble for a loose ball Saturday night in New Jersey's loss to Dallas, the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Boone said the injury was "nothing" and that he was fine. He played just 25 minutes, which isn't much less than his typical playing time. We'll follow up as the Nets head into a Monday meeting in Houston.
Bostjan Nachbar: Returns to Action Saturday
Update: Nachbar returned to action Saturday night against Dallas after missing three games with a strained left hip.
Analysis: Nachbar had 13 points (4-of-9 FG, 1-of-3 3pt), nine rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes off the bench in New Jersey's loss to the Dallas.
Matt Carroll: Six 3s
Update: Carroll buried his first six 3-point attempts on his way to 23 points Saturday night in Charlotte's victory over Washington.
Analysis: Carroll has been an integral part of the Bobcats' lineup during their five-game winning streak. He has double-figure scoring in six of the last seven games with 23 3-pointers during that stretch. He will continue to get big minutes from here on out.
Rajon Rondo: Nine Assists in Win
Update: Rondo had three points and nine assists in the Celtics' 119-89 win over the Grizzlies on Saturday night.
Analysis: Saturday's game was a blowout from the very beginning, so give little attention to Rondo's low offensive production. He should be more productive in competitive games, even with Sam Cassell on board.
Sam Cassell: Celtics Taking Their Time
Update: Cassell did not appear in Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, though he may appear in Monday's game against Philadelphia, according to the Boston Herald.
Analysis: When Cassell does suit up for the Celtics, fantasy owners should temper their expectations, as he is unlikely to play major minutes with Rajon Rondo occupying the starting point guard spot.
Antonio McDyess: Slumping
Update: McDyess' productivity has been down in March, perhaps indicating that his increase in minutes this year has worn him down.
Analysis: McDyess was happy to come off the bench his first three years in Detroit, and he had a bit of a revival getting back into the starting lineup this season. However, after averaging 22 minutes/game over the last three seasons, he's up to 30 minutes a game this season. He has just 13 points and 16 rebounds in four March games. If you are counting on McDyess right now, you might want to check and see if Amir Johnson is a free agent in your league.
Kendrick Perkins: Fourth Straight Double-Double
Update: Perkins had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the Celtics' 119-89 win over the Grizzlies on Friday.
Analysis: Saturday was Perkins' fourth-straight double-double, and his fifth straight game in double-figure scoring. He's averaged 13.4 points and 12.6 rebounds over his last five. The time to act on him should be now, as he seems to be assuming a greater part in Boston's offensive schemes, as the team has virtually wrapped up the top seed in the Eastern Conference. As the C's start to rest some of their offensive stars, Perkins should see even more offensive opportunities.
Ray Allen: Scores 23 Against Grizzlies
Update: Allen had 23 points and three rebounds in the Celtics' 119-89 win over the Grizzlies on Saturday night.
Analysis: Allen broke out of his shooting funk Saturday, shooting 9-13 from the field and 5-8 from three-point range. Allen had shot only 18 percent from the field over his previous two games.
Kevin Garnett: Scores 17 Against Grizzlies
Update: Garnett had 17 points , eight rebounds and four assists in the Celtics' 119-89 win over the Grizzlies on Saturday.
Analysis: Garnett's stats and playing time continue to be hurt by the C's tendency to blow out opponents, as Garnett only played 27 minutes Saturday night. While he's still better than most frontcourt options, it may be wise to spot-start Garnett only against competitive teams from here on out, as he's sure to have minimal production in blowouts.
Antonio Daniels: Scores 14 Against Bobcats
Update: Daniels had 14 points in the Wizards' 100-97 loss to the Bobcats on Saturday.
Analysis: Daniels played 28 minutes on Saturday, and hasn't topped 30 minutes of play in his last three games. Rookie Nick Young and veteran Roger Mason have been gradually eating into Daniels' playing time, and should continue to do so.
Nick Young: Playing Significant Minutes
Update: Young had 11 points and four assists in 24 minutes of play during the Wizards' 100-97 loss to the Bobcats on Saturday.
Analysis: Young has topped 20 minutes in his last three games, scoring in double figures in each of those contests. The team seems to be gaining confidence in his abilities, and he may be a decent late-season pickup in deeper leagues.
DeShawn Stevenson: 11 Points, Six Assists Against Bobcats
Update: Stevenson had 11 points and six assists in the Wizards' 100-97 loss to the Bobcats on Saturday.
Analysis: Continuing his poor shooting recently, Stevenson shot 3-11 from the field, including 2-10 from three-point range.
Al Thornton: Starts Cold But Warms Up
Update: Thornton scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Clippers' 99-96 loss to Minnesota Saturday night.
Analysis: The rookie forward clanked his first four field-goal attempts but shot 6-of-12 the remainder of the game. He has reached fantasy starter status in all league formats.
Brevin Knight: Missing in Action
Update: Knight (neck) did not play Saturday night versus the Timberwolves.
Analysis: The veteran point guard was a late scratch due to a sore neck. Dan Dickau started in his place.
Corey Maggette: Scores 29 Points in Defeat
Update: Maggette had 29 points, three rebounds and five turnovers in the Clippers' 99-96 loss to the Timberwolves Saturday night.
Analysis: Maggette is likely to opt out of his contract at the end of the season, so undoubtedly he's playing because he has something to prove. If he does end up in a new zip code, it will be interesting to see if he takes his scoring average with him. The small forward has had the green light to shoot all season, and that strategy may change with a different cast of players.
Brad Miller: Reaches a Low Point
Update: Miller has scored seven points in the past two games, and the center admits physically, he, along with his teammates, are at a low point in the season, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Analysis: "We still have goals we're trying to meet. I'm very banged up, and not as bad as last year (with a foot injury). But everybody's banged up at this point," Miller said. Sacramento has lost seven of its past eight games.
Ron Artest: Questionable Sunday
Update: Artest, who has missed two straight games with foot soreness, is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lakers, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Analysis: For the past few months, the small forward has complained about a sore right foot but managed to play. He admitted he was resting his foot because the Kings' last two opponents were the Clippers and Timberwolves, lower echelon teams. The Lakers would appear to be a team Artest might feel compelled to play against regardless of his health.
Deron Williams: Seventh Consecutive Double-Double
Update: Williams notched his seventh consecutive double-double Saturday, scoring 14 points and handing out 16 assists in a blowout win over Denver.
Analysis: Saturday's performance pushed Williams into a tie with Steve Nash for most double-doubles (39) among point guards.
