Eric Gordon: Back In Action
Update: As was expected, Gordon (groin) made a return to action in his hometown as the Clippers lost to Indiana on Wednesday evening.
Analysis: Gordon had been out since November 7th and came off the bench in this one, scoring just six points on 2-of-7 from the field. The Clippers will be in Detroit on Friday against the struggling Pistons, a group that has allowed 101 points per game during a current six game losing skid.
George Hill: Scores 12 Against Warriors
Update: Hill had 12 points in 33 minutes during the Spurs' win over the Warriors on Wednesday.
Analysis: Hill should be the main beneficiary from Manu Ginobili's injury, though Roger Mason could siphon some playing time as well.
Tyson Chandler: Returns to Lineup
Update: Chandler (back spasms) returned to the starting lineup Wednesday night and scored just five points, but rebounded nine balls and blocked six shots.
Analysis: Even in his return, Chandler is not giving the Bobcats much scoring but boosted there inside presence on defense and blocked a season-high six shots. Chandler has not scored in double digits in six straight games now.
Roger Mason: Scores 17 Against Warriors
Update: Mason had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists in the Spurs' win over the Warriors on Wednesday.
Analysis: Mason should see additional minutes over the next few games with Manu Ginobili out of the lineup.
Tony Parker: Scores 32 Against Warriors
Update: Parker had 32 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the Spurs' win over the Warriors on Wednesday.
Analysis: Wednesday's performance is a definite sign that Parker is back and healthy, though one shouldn't expect these sort of performances every night, as the Warriors are notoriously poor defensively.
Ben Gordon: Severity of Ankle Sprain Unknown
Update: The severity of Gordon's ankle sprain is unknown and his status is "up in the air," the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Gordon's ailment is just the latest in a season-long list of injury woes for the Pistons. As soon as we hear more concrete information we'll let you know, but his status for Friday's game against the Clippers looks iffy at best.
Jamaal Tinsley: Up to Speed?
Update: Tinsley scored 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-4 FT) to go with two assists in 21 minutes in the Grizzlies' loss to the Suns Friday.
Analysis: This was Tinsley's second consecutive game playing 20+ minutes, so it looks like he's back up to game speed.
Jason Richardson: Efficient Performance Wednesday
Update: Richardson scored 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting in just 27 minutes of court time Wednesday.
Analysis: Richardson added five rebounds and three threes to his line as well. The Suns as a team shot almost 62% from the field against the Grizzlies, as Steve Nash has them running and gunning like a well-oiled machine, but that efficiency is actually hurting J-Rich's scoring numbers (17.0 PPG despite shooting a career-best 51.9% through 13 games) as Nash keeps spreading the ball around.
Amar'e Stoudemire: Leads Suns in Scoring Wednesday
Update: Stoudemire scored 28 points on 13-for-18 shooting, his fifth straight 20+ point game, in Wednesday's 126-111 win over Memphis.
Analysis: He only pulled down four rebounds, but did have three blocks and two steals. The Suns' offense is firing on all cylinders right now and Stoudemire is benefiting, averaging 25.0 points and shooting an unreal 65.8% (48-for-73) over that five game stretch.
Jonny Flynn: Scores 20 Points
Update: Flynn scored 20 points with two assists in 38 minutes in Wednesday's loss to Denver.
Analysis: It was encouraging to see Flynn get to the line more as he did in the preseason (he made 6-of-8 free throws), but he again had more turnovers (5) than assists. The T-Wolves are sticking with him as the primary point guard to get him experience, but his turnovers make him vulnerable to losing playing time to Ramon Sessions.
Ryan Hollins: Scores 19 Points
Update: Hollins scored 19 points with three rebounds in Wednesday's loss to Denver. He started at center and played 22 minutes.
Analysis: Hollins has now started seven games in a row, but his scoring and rebound totals have been erratic. Still, it looks like he's the hot hand as Minnesota keeps trying different players to fill the void left by Kevin Love's hand injury.
Andrew Bogut: Progressing Well from Leg Injury
Update: Bogut (strained leg ligaments) said that he's making good progress and should be back in less than four weeks, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Analysis: Bogut said that he's feeling good and he doubts that he'll be out for the full four weeks that were originally projected. Expect him to be sidelined for another week or two.
Luke Ridnour: Almost Triple-Double
Update: Ridnour scored 23 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed seven rebounds in Wednesday loss to the Hornets.
Analysis: Ridnour has played well lately off of the bench for the Bucks. He's still not consistent enough to be in your lineup everyday, but he's not bad to have as a reserve or part time player.
Quentin Richardson: (Back) To Resume Running
Update: Richardson (back) is expected to resume running on Thursday, but a return Friday against Washington is unlikely, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: James Jones has been starting at small forward in Richardson's place.
James Jones: Scoring Contribution
Update: Jones had 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, all from 3-point range, and 4-of-4 from the line in Wednesday's win over Orlando.
Analysis: Jones was filling in for the injured Quentin Richardson (back) for the third straight game and had his most productive scoring night of the three. Richardson hasn't been practicing, so Jones may get another start Friday against the Wizards.
Mario Chalmers: (Shoulder) Plays Wednesday
Update: Chalmers (shoulder) played 26 minutes Wednesday night in Miami's win over Orlando.
Analysis: Chalmers wasn't particularly effective, scoring four points (0-for-3 FG, 0-for-2 3pt, 4-for-4 FT) with two assists, before ending up on the bench during a close game in the fourth quarter.
Jermaine O'Neal: (Back) Plays Wednesday
Update: O'Neal (back) played 35 minutes Wednesday night in Miami's win over Orlando.
Analysis: O'Neal had sat out a practice earlier this week because of the back. He had a big game against the Magic, scoring 13 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, including seven off the offensive glass.
Carl Landry: Keeps Producing
Update: Landry was the Rockets' lone bright spot Wednesday, scoring 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and pulling down six rebounds in 29 minutes against the Blazers.
Analysis: Landry's firmly entrenched in his low-post scorer off the bench role and should continue to be a good source of points and field-goal percentage.
