Moscow is the capital of Russia and one of the world’s great cities, acting as home to over nine million people. From the Kremlin to the statues of the Cold War Soviet era, there is ample history to savour and examine around Red Square and beyond. But Moscow is modernising itself with new parks, shops, hotels and bars which are turning it into a modern metropolis for residents and visitors alike.

The city revolves around the St. Basil’s Cathedral and the brilliant Church of Christ the Saviour, originally built in 1812, destroyed first for a palace, then a swimming pool, but now re-constructed on the northern bank of the Moskva river. There are also great museums such as the Pu shkin Museum of Fine Arts and The Kremlin itself, which is home to a large collection of jewels, Fabergé eggs and the Patriarch's Palace.

You could also enjoy the Bolshoi Ballet, wander round Gorky Park or even see one of the city’s three great soccer clubs: CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow or Spartak Moscow.
