![]() Cologne, Germany (Andreas Reuss) |
The cathedral spires, over 150 metres high, tower over Germany's oldest city but down below, there are innumerable cultural and historical treasures, world-famous museums and active art scene. Over one million people living in this former Roman outpost enjoy a variety of attractions with great food, great chat and a relaxing atmosphere. Whether it’s pavement painting on the cathedral concourse or old masters in the Wallraf Richartz Museum, there is something for everyone.
The traditional pubs dotted around the cathedral area offer Cologne's trademark Koelsch, the frothy, faintly bitter beer served by the glass. And during the annual music festival and carnivals, Cologne comes even more alive. The city is also the home of some of Germany’s largest companies and a centre of new technology. But most of all it’s a place which welcomes visitors from all over the world to relax and enjoy the ambience.
