Oct. 2 -- Designed by Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas, the colorful Arc de Triomf served as the entrance for the 1888 Universal Exposition. Each Spanish province is represented by stone carvings of their Coat of Arms, highlighted by that of the Barcelona province at the crown of the arch.

Oct. 1 -- Take the metro to Espanya and walk through the magic fountains up towards Palau National. It's a hike, but it's well worth it, especially at sunset. Wait a while and you'll see the fountains come to life in a display of aquatic color.

Sept. 30 -- At the top of Barcelona lies Parc Güell, a place, designed by famed architect Antoni Gaudi, where with a climb of a few dozen steps, you can find a grand view of the Catalan capital.

Sept. 29 -- Along the shady pedestrian walkway of Les Ramblas, there is a street performer to greet you every few feet. They'll even pose for a photo ... as long as a donation is made beforehand. (See inset for the reaction to a camera before you contribute to the collection.)
