An early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft.
Career Highlights: Team was 75-27 during his three seasons with two regular season CAA titles and one postseason CAA title. Two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Junior (2009-10): Averaged 14.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. First-Team CAA. Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.Led team in scoring in 19 of 36 games and in rebounding in 29 of 36 games. Finished in the top five in the CAA in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. Tallied a career-high 31 points on 11 of 13 shooting in win over Hofstra. Had 14 double doubles.
Sophomore: Finished year averaging 11.3 points and 8.6 rebounds. Improved free throw percentage from .456 to .558. Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. Had 18 points and 20 rebounds in championship game of CAA Tournament against George Mason. Blocked seven shots against South Dakota St. Had 16 points and 14 rebounds against East Carolina. Scored 21 points and pulled down 19 rebound against. Hampton. Had 16 points and 13 rebounds against Hofstra. Scored 19 points and brought home 16 rebounds against Delaware.
Freshman (2007-08): Named to Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie and All-Defensive Teams. Selected Mid-Major Freshman All-America by collegeinsider.com. Led CAA and ranked 11th nationally in blocked shots per game (3.0). Appeared in all 32 games, including 16 starts. Blocked 95 shots, fourth-most in school history, as well as the most ever by a VCU freshman. Averaged 4.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in 16.6 minutes. Knocked down 5-of-8 field goals on the way to an 11-point, eight-rebound, seven block performance in win over Towson. Had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots in against Longwood.
Strengths: Extremely long and athletic forward who can rebound and block shots at a high clip. Runs the floor extremely well for his size. Has a frame that should fill out nicely. Offensive game is a work in progress.
Personal: Enjoys drawing and paining. Would like to become a coach one day.
