Career Highlights: Third-fastest Tar Heel to block 100 shots (51 games) behind Rasheed Wallace (47) and Sam Perkins (50). Averaged 9.2 points and 7.7 rebounds. Blocked 129 shots. Posted 13 double-doubles.
Sophomore (2009-10): Suffered season-ending injury on Feb. 10 with broken lunate bone in left wrist in loss to Duke. Was leading ACC in field goal percentage (.578) and blocked shots, was second in rebounding and 15th in scoring. Led squadwith 64 blocked shots (2.8 per game) and 9.6 rebounds per game and was second in scoring (13.4).Shot 50 percentor better from the floor in 18-of-23 games. Scored in double figures 17 times. Scored 20 or more points four times, with a season-high 22 against Michigan State. Scored a season-low four points in ACC losses against Clemson, Virginia and Duke.Had 15 or more rebounds four times, with a career-high 16 at College of Charleston and at Maryland. Grabbed 10 or more rebounds 11 times.Blocked a season-high six shots against Duke. Had 10 double-doubles. Tied career high with 16 rebounds at Maryland to go with 10 points. Freshman (2008-09): Scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 14 minutes against Michigan State in NCAA championship game. Selected to ACC All-Freshman Team. Played in all 38 games. Second on the Tar Heels and tied for 12th in the ACC in rebounding. Led the team with 65 blocked shots (4th in ACC). Blocked three or more shots in nine games, with a high of six at Virginia Tech. Scored in double figures eight times, including five of the first eight games and three times in the postseason. Second in the ACC among freshmen in rebounds and blocks. Won UNC’s defensive player of the game award six times. Had nine points, 10 rebounds and two steals in win over Kentucky. Had 10 points and seven rebounds against Michigan State. Averaged 8.0 points and 6.5 boards in ACC Tournament. Averaged 8.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in NCAA Tournament, making 20-of-35 shots from the floor (.571). Was Carolina’s defensive player of the game in first three NCAA wins.
Strengths: Long and active big man with a high motor. Terrific rebounder at both ends of the floor. Also uses his length to block shots. Has shown improved offensive skills and touch.
Personal: Son of Angela Jones and Terry Davis. Father played 10 seasons (1989-2001) in NBA with Miami, Dallas, Denver and Washington.
