Areas of Strength:
The Sixers are a terrific team in transition. When they force turnovers and missed shots, they flourish in the open floor. With athletes at every position, they're the best fast-break team in the league.
Needs Work:
The Sixers desperately need shooting. They have ranked last in the league in 3-point percentage for each of the last two seasons. Defenses have been able to sag off the Sixers' perimeter players and clog the paint, which made it difficult for Elton Brand to operate in the post before he was injured.
Stat That Matters:
- The Sixers led the league with 19.7 fast break points per 100 possessions.
- The Sixers ranked third by attempting 30.3 free throws per 100 possessions.
The Way To Go:
The biggest decision Sixers GM Ed Stefanski must make this summer regards free-agent point guard Andre Miller. Miller has been a terrific floor leader for the young and up-tempo Sixers and the Sixers have few avenues to find a replacement. Still, Miller is 33 years old and may have signaled his intention of leaving Philadelphia when he skepped the team meeting after their season ended.
