Darren Collison

Career Highlights:

A First Team All-Pac-10 selection as a senior in 2008-09. Winner of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, for the nation's best player six-feet or under. Named to AP All-America Third Team as a junior and Honorable Mention AP All-American as a senior. Finished his career 16th in UCLA history in points scored (1,639). Tied for first for career games played (142) and second in wins (117). Fourth all-time in three-point percentage (.435), third in free-throw percentage (.851), fifth in assists (577) and second in steals (231).

Senior (2008-09):

Averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 assists and 1.6 steals in 31.5 minutes over 35 contests. A finalist for the Bob Cousy Award and John R. Wooden Award. Named USBWA All-District IX and NABC First Team All-District 20. Led the Pac-10 and was fourth in the nation in free-throw percentage (.897). In conference games only, ranked second in the Pac-10 in assists (4.9 apg) and first in assist to turnover ratio (2.15). Scored a season-high 26 points (career-best 6-of-10 from 3-point range). Scored 22 points vs. Texas, Oregon and California. Had a season-high 10 assists vs. Louisiana Tech. Posted 19 points, seven assists and a season- high four steals vs. Wyoming. Scored 20 points and added eight assists vs. Washington State.

Junior (2007-08):

Averaged 14.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game. His 52.5 percent from three-point range led the Pac-10 and set a UCLA single-season record. Named the Most Outstanding Player of the Pac-10 Tournament. A Third Team AP All-American in addition to earning Second Team All-Pac-10 and Pac-10 All-Defensive Team honors. A Bob Cousy Award Finalist. A USBWA All-District IX Team pick. Scored a career-high 33 points in the win at Oregon State. Tallied 20 or more points six times.

Sophomore (2006-07):

Named First Team All-Pac-10 and Honorable Mention AP All-America after averaging 12.7 points per game and 5.7 assists. Ranked in the top 10 in the Pac-10 Conference in five statistical categories, including leading the league in steals with 2.2 spg and in three-point field goal percentage (.447), and ranking second in both assists (5.7 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (2.0). Scored a season-high 20 points, all in second half, in a loss to California in the Pac-10 Tournament. Posted a then-career-high 18 points in a win at Arizona State. His 15 assists vs. Arizona is tied for the second-best total in UCLA history. Earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors twice during the season. Named to the NCAA Tournament All-West Regional team after averaging 13.0 points and 2.5 steals per game against Kansas and Pittsburgh.

Freshman (2005-06):

Averaged 5.5 points and 2.3 assists per contest, starting two games. Had a season-high 15 points in 23 minutes in a win over Arizona. In 19 minutes versus Wagner, he scored 12 points, including six points in the Bruins' come-from-behind rally late in the second half;

Strengths: Excellent athlete. Great change-of-direction speed. Can get deep penetration going to the basket and open up angles to finish. Solid decision-maker and distributor. Dependable shooter with range. Efficient scorer. A premiere defender at the college level. Collects steals while avoiding fouls.

Personal: Parents were elite track & field athletes. Mother June (Griffith) represented Guyana at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Father, Dennis, represented Guyana at the Pan-American Games.
