Career Highlights:

Was a key player for Georgia Tech over his last two seasons. Finished career ranked sixth on Georgia Tech’s career blocks list with 105. Scored in double figures 31 times during his career, including 15 times against ACC teams.

Senior (2008-09):

Ranked fifth in the ACC in field-goal percentage (.522) and reached double figures in rebounds nine times during the season. Was ranked third on team in scoring (11.8 ppg) and second in rebounding (seventh in ACC). Reached double figures scoring in 20 total games on the season. Blocked a career-high six shots against Wake Forest, playing against his brother Al-Farouq Aminu. Scored a season-high 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting against Alabama. Grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds against Maryland. Scored 19 points against North Carolina, his most in any ACC game of his career.

Junior (2007-08):

Ranked second on team in rebounding (132) and blocked shots (29). Went 5-for-6 from the field in two ACC tournament games, scoring 11 points in the first round against Virginia. Started first seven games of the season and had four straight games scoring in double figures during that stretch. Hit 12-of-14 from the field for a career-best 25 points at Tennessee State.

Sophomore (2007-06):

Averaged 6.5 points and 3.1 rebounds over Tech’s last 11 games. Also made 32-for-49 shots from the field and blocked eight shots over those games. Finished with 11 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes in NCAA Tournament loss to UNLV. Had career highs of 17 points and eight rebounds against Wake Forest in ACC Tournament, while also making two steals and two blocks.

Freshman (2005-06):

Played in 24 games, averaging 8.0 minutes per contest. Recorded season highs of eight points and eight rebounds against Centenary.

Strengths: Smooth athlete with good size and great hands. Excels at catching and finishing on the pick-and-roll. Has a nice right-handed hook shot in the post. Active rebounder and shot-blocker who takes advantage of his physical tools.

Personal: Son of Aboy and Anjirlic Aminu. Brother, Al-Farouq, plays at Wake Forest. Competed for his high school’s track team in addition to playing basketball. Formed a non-profit company in the summer before his senior year of college, which manages and participates in community service projects.
