Played first two seasons at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas and briefly attended Louisiana State the first part of the 2005-06 season, playing two minutes in one exhibition game, before deciding to transfer to South Florida, where he sat out the remainder of the school year and the first semester of 2006-07 under NCAA transfer rules.
Senior (2007-08): Averaged 16.0 points and 10.8 rebounds (ranked second nationally). Season total of 325 rebounds ranks as the second-highest total in school history. Missed one contest serving a penalty for playing in a non-sanctioned summer league game. Registered 15 double-doubles. Scored 20 or more points 11 times. Matched career-high with 26 points and added 11 rebounds vs. Pittsburgh. Scored 26 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and blocked six shots vs. Connecticut. Tallied 18 points, 15 rebounds and a career-high seven blocked shots vs. UAB. Recorded 15 points and 15 rebounds at Marquette. Scored 20 points and pulled down 17 rebounds vs. Rutgers. Grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds at Cincinnati. Led team with 22 points and 10 rebounds vs. Louisville. Notched 23 points vs. Syracuse and 22 points vs. West Virginia.
Junior (2006-07): Ranked third in the nation in rebounding (11.4 rpg), while also leading the team in scoring (15.6 ppg). Also ranked sixth in the Big East in field goal percentage (.577). Started 22 of 23 games after becoming eligible to play in mid-December. Posted 12 double-doubles. Registered 24 points and 11 rebounds in his USF debut vs. Norfolk State. Pulled down 17 rebounds at UNLV. Recorded 17 points and 15 rebounds vs. Wake Forest. Tallied 21 points and 15 rebounds vs. Cincinnati. Notched 23 points and 11 rebounds at Notre Dame. Scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds at St. John’s. Posted a 25-point, 14-rebound double-double vs. Providence. Set career highs of 26 points and 23 rebounds in the season finale at DePaul.
Sophomore (2004-05): At San Jacinto, averaged 11.1 points and 13.7 rebounds. Led Region XIV and ranked third in the nation in rebounding. Helped lead team to a 31-3 overall record and earned First Team All-Region honors.
Freshman (2003-04): Averaged 11.3 points and 12.6 rebounds. Led Region XIV and ranked fourth in the nation in rebounding. Helped team to a 27-4 overall record and earned Second Team All-Region honors.
Strengths: Uses his wide body and strength to clear out space inside and isn’t afraid to get physical. Has a soft touch for a big man. A dominant rebounder who is especially effective on the offensive glass.
Personal: Graduated with a degree in communications in December of 2007. Also competed in football in high school. Has two triplet sisters.
