Captured the league’s attention with a strong showing at the 2008 Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League in Salt Lake City… NBA Commissioner David Stern allowed the Iranian national team to play two games against NBA competition to prepare for the upcoming Olympics … Averaged 14.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 25.5 minutes in two contests against squads from the Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS Signed with the Grizzlies as a free agent on Aug. 28, 2008… Went undrafted in the 2004 NBA Draft.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER
Led all 2008 Olympians in rebounds (11.2) and blocks (2.6) and averaged 16.6 points in five contests, despite his Iranian team finishing 0-5 in competition in Beijing, China… The only player to average a double-double in Olympic competition… Put in a personal tournament-best 21 points and 16 rebounds in a loss against eventual bronze-medal winners Argentina on Aug. 16… Played two games with Iran at the 2008 FIBA Diamond Ball Tournament Jul. 29-Aug. 1 in Nanjing, China to prepare for the Olympics… Averaged an event-best 11.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocks in a field that also featured several NBA veterans including Yao Ming, Andrew Bogut and Yi Jianlian… Led Iran with 31 points and 10 rebounds to defeat Lebanon in the 2007 FIBA Championship, earning the country’s first Olympic berth in basketball since 1948… Played in the Iranian Professional League for eight years beginning in 1999, most recently with Saba Battery BC
