Career Highlights: Finished career ranked 24th in UW history with 1,115 points. One of only eight players in school history with 1,000 points and 650 career rebounds. Recorded 12 career double-doubles. Sat out the 2003-04 season as a medical redshirt.
Senior (2007-08): Named to All-Big Ten First Team, and NABC and USBWA All-District teams. Started all 36 games and led team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg) as Badgers claimed the league title and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. Recorded five double-doubles, including 21 points and 11 rebounds at Texas and 20 points and 13 boards at Purdue. Had five 20-point scoring outings. Made 22-of-49 (.449) of three-point attempts over the last 18 games.
Junior (2006-07): Earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors. Led Wisconsin and ranked 11th in the Big Ten in rebounding (5.9 rpg). Shot .475 from the floor. Started first 29 games of season before an injury at Ohio State sidelined him for remainder of season. Recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds vs. Delaware State. Scored 27 points and grabbed 11 boards vs. Pitt. Tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds vs. Gardner-Webb. Recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds at Iowa. Averaged 8.2 points and team-high 5.8 rebounds in five games during UW’s tour through Italy in Summer 2006.
Sophomore (2005-06): Started 30 of 31 games and was third on the team in scoring (9.9 ppg). Led Wisconsin in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and field goal percentage (.494), and tied for lead in blocked shots (24). Scored 23 points and grabbed a personal-best 12 rebounds at Penn State. Had 19 points and 10 rebounds at Wake Forest. Scored in double figures 13 times, 23 points in season-opener vs. Norfolk State.
Freshman (2004-05): Played in 27 games, averaging 9.7 minutes off the bench as a redshirt freshman. Played just 35 minutes in final eight games after missing six games with mononucleosis. Scored a season-high 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in 14 minutes vs. Northwestern. Scored seven points in 13 minutes at Penn State. Scored 11 points and added a season-high nine rebounds vs. UNC Greensboro.
Strengths:Fundamentally-sound big with a nice outside stroke. Solid passer from the post. Decent athlete with a strong work ethic.
Personal: Parents are Peter and Nancy Butch. Majoring in life sciences communication. Earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2005, 2007 and 2008. Added 30 pounds since coming to UW in summer of 2003.
