Career Highlights: Named a team captain as a sophomore, one of two players (teammate Greg Paulus) to receive that honor in Duke history in only their second season. An All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team selection as a sophomore.
Sophomore (2006-07): An All-ACC Second Team and All-ACC Defensive Team selection. Started in 32 of 33 games, averaging 13.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. Recorded seven point-rebound double-doubles. Tallied a career-high 22 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in an NCAA Tournament loss to Virginia Commonwealth. Tallied a career-high tying six blocks against St. John’s. Grabbed a personal-best 17 rebounds against San Jose State.
Freshman (2005-06): An All-ACC Freshman team selection. Produced a balanced stat-line of 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks in 36 games (31 starts). Duke’s third-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder and shotblocker. Shot a team-best .605 from the field. Logged five double-digit rebounding efforts and two point-rebound double-doubles.
Strengths: An athletic post player who rebounds well and can score in the low-post. Intense defender and true shotblocker. An excellent passer and impressive ballhandler for his size.
Personal: Named the National High School Senior Athlete of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association; also won the 2005 Morgan Wootten Award as the McDonald’s All-America Player of the Year.
