Career Highlights: A three-time WAC All-Academic Team selection. With 1,698 career points, Karl ranks third on the Broncos’ all-time scoring list. Also ranks in Boise State’s career top 10 for free throws made and attempted, free throw percentage, field goals made and attempted, assists and rebounds. Boise State’s all-time leader in games played (127), three-pointers made (266) and three-pointers attempted (717).
Senior (2006-07): Named First-Team All-WAC. Averaged a team-best 14.8 points and 4.0 assists as a senior. Posted double-digit points in 25 of 31 contests, including five games of 20 or more. Made a single-game best eight three-pointers vs. Louisiana Tech.
Junior (2005-06): Captured Second-Team All-WAC honors. Averaged a career-best 17.2 points, including a 19.1 ppg mark in league games. Among WAC players, Karl ranked fifth in assists (117), fifth in free-throw percentage (.796) and third in three-point field goals made (70). Netted a career-high 32 points against Nevada. Scored in double-figures in 27 of 29 contests.
Sophomore (2004-05): Dished out a career-best 129 assists and buried 67 three-point field goals, both marks sixth-best in the WAC. Averaged 12.7 points and and 3.7 rebounds. Posted double-figure scoring efforts in 24 of 34 games.
Freshman (2003-04): After redshirting in 2002-03, Karl played in 33 games, making 17 starts. Became just the fifth freshman in Boise State history to score over 300 points, averaging 9.4 points. Also chipped in with 3.2 rebounds per contest.
Strengths: A pure shooter with great range who can score from the perimeter and can also take it to the rack. A steady player with good instincts who is a good passer and rebounder.
Personal: The son of Denver Nuggets Head Coach George Karl. Majored in communications. Underwent chemotherapy, as well as surgeries to remove his thyroid and cancerous lymph nodes over the past two years to correct a form of treatable cancer known as papillary carcinoma.
