2006-07:
- 30-52, Fifth Place in South East Division
Key Rotation Players Returning:
Needs:
- Point Guard
- Shot Blocker
- Veteran Leadership
Analysis:
It was a disappointing season for the Atlanta Hawks. Injuries to key players included Josh Childress, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Joe Johnson and Tyronn Lue only added to the troublesome year. All-Star Johnson led the team with 25 ppg, 4.4 apg, and 4.2 rpg, but his play was not enough to compensate for mediocrity at the point guard position and minimal presence in the low post. Spirits are not completely dim in the ATL since acquiring the 3rd and 11th pick in one of the deepest drafts in NBA history. The Hawks need a point guard, but taking one at No. 3 might be considered a stretch.

From The Media:
"The Hawks are seriously considering Horford with the third pick in the June 28 NBA draft, a team that has drafted five straight forwards with first-round picks dating back to the 2003 draft."
