Nothing is more exciting for a young hoops player than to be selected in the NBA Draft.
ESPN.com and NBA.com chronicled one of the greatest nights in the lives of these talented young
men, chatting with them moments after they were chosen in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Read the chat transcript for the No. 13 pick of the draft and new New Orleans Hornets player, Julian Wright and see how he reacted.
Buzzmaster: (9:53 PM ET ) Just kidding Julian Wright is here!
callum (england): What nba player do you admire the most
Julian Wright: (9:54 PM ET ) Kevin Garnett. He's someone that I've always tried to pattern my game after, working out and trying to get better in my all around game.
blake (wisconsin): are you happy where you went in the draft?
Julian Wright: (9:55 PM ET ) I definitely am. This is a great situation. I'm playing with a great point guard in Chris Paul. I feel like the situation is a steal. I'm really going to go to a good situation and can help the team from the start.
LD (Concord, NC): How do you think you will do against the other superb athletes in the NBA?
Julian Wright: (9:56 PM ET ) I feel like athleticism is not just jumping, but it's being quick and reacting. I feel I have the will to compete and that's important in the transition to go the NBA. That's what you need every night when it's a long season.
Justin (Brisbane): Julian Wright, how does it feel to be playing with Chris Paul? Do you think you can help the Hornets make the playoffs this year?
Julian Wright: (9:57 PM ET ) I think we'll have a chance. I'll be going where I can contribute on and off the court. Keep the moral high. I may have bad moments, but I don't have bad days. We'll give the team a taste of the playoffs year in year out.
Philip (New Orleans): Julian -- glad to have you! Are you looking forward to helping in our recovery effort?
Julian Wright: (9:58 PM ET ) Oh yeah. That's the first thing I thought about. I really feel like I can present a lot of good things with some positive social change. That falls in with my beliefs to leave the Earth a better place when you leave.
Buzzmaster: (9:58 PM ET ) Thanks Julian!
