Career Highlights: Named First Team All-Atlantic 10 as a junior. Also earned All-District 4 honors from the NABC. Named Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year as a junior, and earned league All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman. As a senior, helped George Washington become only the third team in Atlantic-10 history to go undefeated in league play, along with Temple (1983-84) and St. Joseph’s (2003-04). Finished collegiate career as the 29th all-time leading scorer in George Washington history with 1,121 points.
Junior (2005-06): Led team in scoring (14.5 ppg, 12th in the A-10) and steals (2.5 spg, second) while ranking second in assists (3.1 apg). Scored 20 or more points four times, with a career-high matching 23 points on 7-for-10 shooting at Morgan State. Posted first career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds vs. St. Louis. Registered 15 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists at St. Bonaventure. Tallied 21 points and nine rebounds at Marshall. Recorded 19 points and eight rebounds vs. Maryland. Notched 19 points and seven rebounds in the regular season finale vs. Charlotte. Scored 16 points vs. Temple in the Atlantic-10 Tournament.
Sophomore (2004-05): Averaged 13.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 29.3 minutes a contest. Registered career-high matching 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds vs. Morgan State. Shot 8-for-11 from the field in scoring 22 points vs. Maryland. Recorded 15 points and seven rebounds at Richmond. Posted 16 points and eight rebounds vs. Temple in the semi-finals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Tallied 15 points and five steals vs. St. Joseph’s in the tournament championship game. Scored 12 points vs. Georgia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Freshman (2003-04): Averaged 9.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.9 minutes a contest. Scored in double figures 12 times, with a career-high 23 points vs. La Salle in his first career start. Tallied 21 points and seven rebounds vs. St. Bonaventure. Scored 15 points vs. William & Mary on his way to All-Tournament honors at the Red Auerbach Colonial Classic.
Prep School: Attended Coastal Christian Academy (Virginia Beach, Va.).
Personal: Nickname of “J.R.” stands for Junior. Parents are natives of Panama. Has one sister, Devena, and a son, Trey.
