Originally an early entry candidate for the 2004 NBA draft before withdrawing his name from consideration. Turned down a scholarship offer from Indiana to sign a professional contract overseas. As a result, he’s automatically eligible for the 2005 NBA Draft. Is a native of Yugoslavia and also holds citizenship in Bosnia and Israel. He emigrated with his family to the United States when he was eight years old.
2004-05: Underwent shoulder surgery and missed virtually the entire season for Paris Basket Racing. Played one minute of one game for the senior team.
High School Career Highlights: Ranked 11th among senior centers and 99th overall by Rivals.com. Rothbart averaged 21 points, a California state-leading 15 rebounds and five blocked shots per game as a senior at Natomas High School. Named Sierra Foothill League MVP and earned All-Metro honors from The Sacramento Bee. Rothbart spent his junior season at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif., where he averaged 26 points, 14 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game.
Strengths: According to reports, he has excellent coordination for a seven-footer, but lacks strength.
