Dwight Howard
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 1 by the Orlando Magic out of SW Atlanta Christian Academy (Ga.)
2004-05 Season: Surprising resilient for any rookie, especially a player straight out of high school, Howard started in all 82 games. He averaged 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He ranked eighth in the league in rebounding and 10th in field-goal percentage (.52).

Emeka Okafor
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 2 by the Charlotte Bobcats out of Connecticut
2004-05 Season: The face of the new franchise in Charlotte, Okafor was solid as a rock and a consistent double-double threat in his rookie season. He averaged 15.1 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.71 blocks per game. Okafor ranked fourth in the NBA in both rebounding and double-doubles (47).

Josh Childress
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 6 by the Atlanta Hawks out of Stanford
2004-05 Season: Better than many may have expected, Childress proved to be a very smart player. Logging over 29 minutes per game, he had a lot of opportunity to play and develop in his rookie season in Atlanta. On the year, Childress averaged 10.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Luol Deng
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 7 by the Phoenix Suns out of Duke, draft rights traded to the Chicago Bulls
2004-05 Season: A tough matchup because of his length and size, Deng was a crucial component in the young Bulls' resurgence in 2004-05. Deng started in 45 games on the season, averaging 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Andre Iguodala
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 9 by the Philadelphia 76ers out of Arizona
2004-05 Season: Amazingly athletic, Iguodala was a regular on the highlight reels. He averaged 9.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game on the season and ranked eighth in the NBA in steals per game (1.68). He also recorded a triple-double against the Pistons on March 23 with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Al Jefferson
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 15 by the Boston Celtics out of Prentiss High School (Miss.)
2004-05 Season: A young and promising forward at 6-10, Jefferson averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game in his first season in the league. Jefferson also ranked eighth in the NBA in field-goal percentage (.528).

Josh Smith
2004 Draft: Selected at No. 17 by the Atlanta Hawks out of Oak Hill Academy (Va.)
2004-05 Season: An incredible dunking machine, Smith captured the title at the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk at NBA All-Star 2005. In his rookie season, he averaged 9.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.95 blocks per game in 27.7 minutes.
