An early entry candidate for the 2004 NBA Draft. Originally an early entry candidate for the 2003 NBA Draft before withdrawing his name from consideration. Attended the NBA’s Chicago Pre-Draft Camp in 2003 and earned good reviews. Signed a contract with Snaidero Udine when he was 16.
Career Notes: Has played the last three seasons for Snaidero Udine of Italy’s top league. Grew up with Polzela (Slovenia) youth teams. Made his debut with Polzela during the 1999-00 season. Moved to Italy for the 2000-01 season. Has been member of the Slovenian Junior National Team. Won the silver medal at the 2002 European Junior Championship. Member of the Slovenian Under-20 National Team. Played at the 2002 European Under-20 Championship.
2003-04: Appeared in 30 games, averaging 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.4 steals. Scored a season-high 29 points against Pompea Naples.
2002-03: Appeared in 28 games, averaging 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.1 steals.
2001-02: Appeared in 24 games, seeing limited action.
Strengths: Combo guard who’s drawn comparisons to Brent Barry. According to scouting reports, he’s an unselfish player with good shooting and passing skills. Still learning the point guard position but is said to have lead guard instincts.
Personal: Favorite NBA team is the Sacramento Kings. His idol is the late Drazen Petrovic.
