An early entry candidate for the 2005 NBA Draft.

Career Highlights: The first Tar Heel ever to record 1,000 points, 600 assists, 300 rebounds, 150 steals and 100 three-point field goals. Ranks fourth all-time on the UNC list for career assists (698), only the ninth Tar Heel to dish out more than 500. Ranks eighth at Carolina with 174 career three-pointers.

Junior (2004-05): Named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team after helping lead Carolina to the NCAA title. Averaged 13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in the six NCAA Tourney wins. Winner of the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award. Named to the All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team honorable mention. Associated Press All-America Third Team selection. Led the ACC in assists (6.9 apg) and three-point percentage (.440), and finished fourth in steals (2.0 spg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.9). Sank a school record 12 consecutive three-pointers early in the season. Scored in double figures in 28 of last 30 games.

Sophomore (2003-04): All-ACC Third Team pick. Led the ACC and ranked fifth in the nation with 7.1 assists per game. Also finished fourth in the ACC in steals per game (2.1), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.1) and seventh in free throw percentage (.810). Set the UNC single-game record with 18 assists vs. George Mason (12/7). Hit at least one three-pointer in 22 games and had a high of four at Virginia and against No. 8 Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament. Scored in double figures 19 times on the season.

Freshman (2004-05): All-ACC Third Team and All-ACC Freshman Team. Voted Carolina’s MVP, the first time a freshman has ever won the award. Named First Team ACC All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds vs. Maryland and Duke. Averaged 12.0 points and 11.3 assists in the NIT and tied the NIT single-game record wit 14 assists, a UNC freshman record. Led the Tar Heels with 236 assists, a school freshman record, and finished second in the ACC with 6.7 apg. First Carolina freshman to record 400 points and 200 assists. Scored in double figures 25 times. Scored 28 points and tied the UNC single-game record with eight three-pointers vs. NC State.

Strengths: Gifted playmaker and ball-handler who excels in transition. Combines great penetration skills with outstanding court vision. Has improved his outside shot throughout the course of his college career.
