Career Highlights: Provided key frontcourt depth off the bench to help Carolina claim the 2005 NCAA title. His tip-in with 1:26 remaining in the NCAA final vs. Illinois broke a 70-70 tie, propelling UNC to a 75-70 victory. Named ACC Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman Team. Also earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors.
Freshman (2004-05): Averaged 11.3 points and was second on the team with 6.6 rebounds per game. Finished fourth in the ACC in free throw percentage (.847) and 10th in rebounding (6.6 rpg). A five-time Rookie of the Week selection and named defensive player of the game four times on the season. Shot .506 from the field and .432 from three-point range. Averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in the six NCAA Tournament wins, including 20 points vs. Oakland, and 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds vs. Iowa State. Recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds at Virginia. Despite receiving four stitches over his eye, grabbed 12 boards in a victory over Indiana.
High School: Averaged 28.7 points, 15.5 rebounds, five blocks and five assists as a senior at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Wash. Earned McDonald's and Parade All-America honors. Also played at the Roundball Classic in Chicago. Two-time all-state selection and named the Washington Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Had a season-high 45 points in a win over Gig Harbor and added two other 42-point games as a senior. Had 20 or more rebounds in five different games with a high of 25. Blocked 11 shots twice as a senior and had 10 in another game. Averaged 23.9 points and 14 rebounds as a junior and was named area player of the year
Strengths: Tremendous physical talent with the basketball skills and work ethic to match. Can play inside or out. Good defender in the paint and out on the wing. Can guard either forward spot. Strong leaper with a quick bounce for second and third attempts to rebound or keep the ball alive.
