Career Highlights: 2003-04 Pac-10 Player of the Year, the first in Stanford history. A finalist for Adolph F. Rupp, Naismith, and John R. Wooden Player of the Year Awards. Named First Team All-America by the AP, Sports Illustrated, Basketball Times, NABC and FoxSports.com. Named Second Team All-America by the USBWA and Third Team by ESPN.com.
Junior (2003-04): Missed the first nine games of the season with a stress reaction in his left foot. Led the Cardinal and ranked ninth in the Pac-10 in scoring (15.7 ppg). Led team in rebounding (7.5 rpg), good for fifth in the conference. Ranked fifth in the conference in free throw shooting (82%). Led Stanford and finished third in the Pac-10 in blocks (37). Scored in double figures in 22 of 23 games. Scored a career-high 36 points against USC. Scored 49 points in three games and was named MVP of the Pac-10 Tournament. Tallied 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocks against Oregon. Scored 36 points against Texas-San Antonio in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Sophomore (2002-03): Named Honorable Mention All-Pac 10. Averaged 14.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. Scored in double figures in 29 of 33 games and posted 11 double-doubles. Grabbed 10 or more rebounds 12 times. Tallied a season-high 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks against San Diego in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against USC.
Freshman (2001-02): Named Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 Freshman. Team’s fourth-leading scorer (7.8 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (4.8 rpg). Only the second freshman to start his first game in coach Mike Montgomery’s 17-year tenure.(The other was Brevin Knight.) Scored in double figures 10 times with a season-high 21 against Purdue. Grabbed five or more rebounds in 15 games. Tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds against UCLA.
Strengths: Large wingspan and quick feet make him an excellent defender and rebounder. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Solid ballhandling and passing skills.
Personal: Volunteered with the Young Black Scholars, a mentoring and tutoring student group that also performed community service projects. Was an All-League volleyball player at Mayfair High School.
