Career Highlights: Honored on the NABC All-America Second team and was named to the John R. Wooden All-America team as a junior. Earned First Team All-Conference USA honors as a senior, was a member of the Conference USA All-Decade team and was the USBWA District 4 Player of the Year. Among Louisville’s career leaders in three-point goals (180, fourth), free throw percentage (.849, third), blocked shots (134, eighth), and scoring (1,413, 23rd). Double-figure scorer on 73 occasions in his career, topping the 20-point mark 22 times. Earned a silver medal in the 2003 Pan American Games while playing on the national team for his native country of the Dominican Republic. Twice named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (3.0 or better GPA).
Junior (2004-05): Averaged a team-leading 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals. Scored over 20 points in three of Louisville’s five NCAA Tournament games, when he averaged 17.6 points and 4.0 assists. A member of the NCAA Albuquerque Region All-Region team and the Conference USA All-Tournament team. Scored a career-high 29 points twice, against Morehead State and Tennessee State. National Player of the Week by ESPN.com when he produced 19 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five steals at Florida. Hit a game-winning three-pointer at Marquette with 2.6 seconds remaining. His 150 free throws were the sixth-most ever in a single season at Louisville and his 65 steals were the eighth-highest total. Finalist for the John R. Wooden Award National Player of the Year honor.
Sophomore (2003-04): Averaged a team-leading 16.4 points and also led the team with 131 total assists. Handed out a school-record 15 assists against Murray State, adding 17 points and seven rebounds in the game. Scored a season-best 28 points against Cincinnati in the C-USA Tournament, hitting 10-of-14 shots from the field. Earned First Team All-Conference USA honors and was an all-district selection by the NABC and USBWA.
Freshman (2002-03): Honored as the Conference USA Freshman of the Year when he averaged 11.2 points, ranking second on the team. Started 15 games. Buried a career-high eight three-point goals against Cincinnati while scoring a season-high 24 points, a mark he also reached against Marquette. Honored on the Conference USA All-Tournament team when he averaged a team-leading 14.7 points and four assists.
Strengths: Versatile and talented offensive performer who plays with passion and has a good overall feel for the game. Has excellent range on his jumpshot.
Personal: Majoring in communications. Moved to the United States prior to his sophomore year in high school.
