An early entry candidate for the 2005 NBA Draft. Was originally an early entry candidate for the 2003 and 2004 NBA Drafts before withdrawing his name from consideration. Played his freshman season at Michigan State before signing a professional contract with Skipper Bologna of the Italian League. Grew up playing in the Slovenian Leagues. Was a member of the Union Olimpija Ljubljana II club team in Slovenia for three years. Averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds his final season with the team. Participated in the 2002 Slovenian League Under-20 All-Star game.
2004-05: Captured the Euroleague’s Rising Star Trophy, signifying the league’s top player under the age of 22. Averaged 9.2 points and 4.9 rebounds. Shot 56 percent from the field. Scored a season-high 24 points against Zalgiris Kuanas. Averaged 7.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in Italian League play.
2003-04: Averaged 4.2 points and 3.4 rebounds for Skipper Bologna. In Euroleague play, averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds. Scored a season-high 13 points and added seven rebounds against Unicaja. In two games at the Euroleague Final Four, averaged 4.5 points. Scored seven points in a 118-74 loss to Maccabi in the final game.
Michigan State (2002-03): Averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds as a part-time starter, playing 15.7 minutes a contest. Tied for the team lead in total blocks and ranked second in field goal percentage. Posted seven double-figure games.
Strengths: He is an excellent high-post passer and shooter from 18 feet. Although not extremely bulky, he knows how to play with his back to the basket and score inside as well as outside.
