Career Highlights: Earned NJCAA All-American First Team honors and was named conference, district and region Player of the Year as a sophomore. Played the past two seasons at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Ill. Finished career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,433 career points. Signed a letter-of-intent in the fall to attend Louisville in 2004-05 before making the decision to turn professional.
Sophomore (2003-04): Averaged 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Ranked third in the country in scoring. Exploded for 42 points against Wabash Valley. Tallied 40 points and 10 rebounds against Moberly Area. Scored 38 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Three Rivers CC. Recorded 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists against John Logan. Scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Southwest Tennessee CC. Notched 34 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists against SW Missouri State-West Plains. Registered 28 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against North Dakota State College of Science. Posted 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament against Walters State. Collected 24 points and 10 rebounds against Georgia Perimeter in the second round of the NJCAA Tournament. Scored 28 points, including 6-for-7 from three-point range, against Southeastern (Iowa) CC in the tournament semifinals. Tallied 16 points and seven assists in the NJCAA Tournament Third Place game against Midland. Named to the All-Tournament Team.
Freshman (2002-03): Averaged 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Posted 15 points and 15 rebounds in opening round loss to Southeastern (Iowa) CC in the NJCAA Tournament. Recorded 22 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in consolation round win over Western Nebraska. Scored 28 points on 13-for-22 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds in a win over Yavapai (Ariz.) in the consolation round semifinals. Registered nine points in a win over Coffeyville (Kan.) to help team to a seventh place finish. Earned All-Tournament honors.
Strengths: According to his coach Todd Franklin, Smith has a pro body, seven-foot wingspan and can play the one, two or three positions.
Personal: Majoring in sports management. Idolized Michael Jordan while growing up. Favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers. Favorite food is pizza.
