An early entry candidate for the 2005 NBA Draft. Originally committed to Lousville. Sat out his junior season at Westchester. Played his sophomore season at Verbum Dei High School. Was ineligible during his freshman campaign at L.A. Pacific Hills High School. Named a 2005 McDonald’s High School All-American. He averaged 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds for the West squad in the 2004 USA Basketball Men's Youth Development Festival.
High School Career Highlights: Named 2005 Mr. Basketball in California. Named Los Angeles’ Player of the Year by the L.A. Times. Led Westchester to a state championship and a top-five national ranking as a senior.
2005 Postseason All-Star Games: Scored 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting for the West squad in the Roundball Classic. Tallied seven rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes for the West team in the McDonald’s High School All-American game.
Senior (2004-05): Averaged 21.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 8.0 blocks.
Strengths: Runs exceptionally well for a player his size and does most of his damage around the basket. Has nearly a seven-foot wingspan.
