Draft Overview

Areas of Strength
Beyond the confidence rush from exceeding every expectation last season? The Suns showed that a backcourt with point guards Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic could work because Dragic was such a good shooter, and improvement throughout the frontline (the Morris twins, Miles Plumlee, P.J. Tucker, Gerald Green gave them more depth than imagined. The entire future is an area of strength.

Needs Work
The Suns need to build on the Plumlee addition and continue to become more physical inside to take the next step from a good defensive team to good enough to win a series on that side of the ball. A full, healthy season from Alex Len, the 2013 lottery pick, would be an important contribution. And while Phoenix scores at a high rate – 105.2 points a game, seventh in the league – it could be closer to lethal by reducing the turnover problem.

Two Stats That Matter
.676 -- Winning percentage (23-11) with preferred starting lineup of Bledsoe, Dragic, Tucker, Channing Frye and Pumlee.

7 -- Rotation players who posted career-highs in scoring in 2013-14.

The Way To Go's Draft expert, Scott Howard-Cooper, offers up his suggestions:
The way they want to go is a trade, with some/all of the three picks plus an excess of future picks and existing players, for a current star off a team wanting to save a bad situation. (Oh, hello, Timberwolves). The Suns won’t find an easy answer to become more physical if they do pick at the end of the lottery. Shooting guard Nik Stauskas would come with experience in pressure situations at Michigan, a benefit for a team wanting to push into the playoffs. James Young or Rodney Hood would be options at small forward, especially with Tucker about to hit free agency.
