2013-14 Season

Smith became Louisville’s sixth consensus All-American after earning first-team honors from The Associated Press, The Sporting News and the USBWA, and he was also chosen as advanced statistic guru Ken Pomeroy's national player of the year for the second consecutive year.

Key statistics: 18.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.6 apg, 2.0 spg, 2.7 tpg, 30.3 mpg, .414 FG, .328 3PT, .804 FT

Cool statistic: Smith is the only player in Louisville history to amass at least 1,800 points, 350 assists and 250 steals in a career. He wound up with a school-record 256 career steals.

What Insiders Say

Louisville coach Rick Pitino

“He was playing the point [in an early-season game against Southern Miss] and he knew they were going to play all matchup zone, so he was trying to get guys shots and did a good job of not forcing shots up. Did he even have a point at halftime? I don’t think he did, so that tells you where his head is at.”

What Outsiders Say

SMU coach Larry Brown

“You know [when] he gets out in transition, you’re going to pay.”
