NBA projection
Southerland has been rated in the second-round to undrafted category, but he’s an interesting prospect because of his size and ability to shoot the long ball.

2012-13 Season
Southerland missed nearly a month of the season because of an NCAA suspension related to a term paper, but he was reinstated in time to help lead Syracuse to the Final Four. He started just 11 times, but led the Orange in 3-point attempts (211) and makes (84). He was also second in rebounding and tied for second in steals.

Cool statistic
Southerland set a Big East Tournament record with 19 three pointers (in 33 attempts) in four games. That’s 58 percent from behind the arc.

Reminds me of...
James Posey

What Insiders Say
Syracuse forward James Southerland
“You shoot the ball. It either goes in or it doesn’t. That’s my philosophy.”

What Outsiders Say
Marquette coach Buzz Williams
“You hate to leave [Southerland] because he's as good a shooter as there is in the country. No matter who you put on him, he's taller than any really good shooter in the country.”
