NBA projection
Carmichael is projected as a second-round pick. He’s got skills NBA teams can use, notably his willingness to perform the game’s more blue-collar tasks. He’s got a knack for rebounding, and with his length and ability to move his feet he’s a good shot blocker and post defender. He’ll never be a primary scoring option, but he can score in the post and his face-up jumper continues to improve.

2012-13 Season
Carmichael led the Missouri Valley in rebounding and blocked shots while earning first-team all-conference honors. He also finished fourth in the league in scoring.

Key statistics
17.4 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 2.0 tpg, 1.0 spg, 2.0 bpg, 30.6 mpg, .527 FG, .182 3PT, .681 FT

Cool statistic
Carmichael holds the Illinois State career blocked shot record (200). This season he blocked at least three shots in 11 games.

What Insiders Say
Illinois State coach Dan Muller
“He might be the best rebounder I’ve been around. He really likes to rebound.”

What Outsiders Say
Utah State coach Stew Morrill
“He is like guarding a very active four player in a sense because he can go by you on the dribble, he can shoot face-up jumpers, he can post it low. He is just a very versatile guy.”
